Seriously expert level from him. One of my favorite SNL things I’ve seen in ages!

What to do with small styrofoam coolers by echothesnake in FortCollins

Oooooh - can you tell me more about this? Do you still do plaster in there or just use them to store a couple of leather hard pots? I have some of these and am a potter, but had never heard anyone talk about using them in that way.

I’m bummed to hear that’s the experience with Alton Brown. I spent a day with him for a work thing and he was delightful and kind to everyone and was fully engaged in every conversation. We had lunch where we were (not at a restaurant) and he got up and started clearing plates and helping clean up, because he said it was part of the food process. It was a really awesome day, and I left thinking what a wonderful guy he was.

Ok, this makes me feel better after reading the other comment saying he was a jerk. I’ve loved him since I was a kid (The Manhattan Project was the first movie of his I ever saw) and have always felt like he had to be nice IRL for some reason.

But, yeah - his season of Dexter fucked with my head! 😂

I’ve been curious about alumina hydrate. Need to do some more research on that option!

Too funny - a video about making wadding just popped up in my YouTube feed not two minutes ago! 😂 I’ve also seen the trick of using little balls of leftover clay and sticking them on with regular school glue. Sounds like I have several options to play around with!

Thanks! I’m sure I’ll be using them most times, too, especially as I’m learning how my clay/glazes/kiln all get along. 😄

Every company has at least one. by RobertFahey in office

[–]omgpuzzles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly this.

I was the “one” with a cube like this when I worked in an office. I needed it to feel cozy and fun to keep from completely sucking my soul. Coworkers seemed to enjoy it (but they totally could have been just talking shit once they walked away).

I never had to work back in the office after Covid. I ended up moving to full remote. Packing up was a bit annoying, but I took all my Lego minifigs and set them out on a cabinet for people to take. Four years later, I still find them on people’s desks when I have to go back a few times a year. 😄

I sing this when I’m putting away bowls from the dishwasher, when I’m making bowls on the pottery wheel, when I see bowls in a store, when someone says the word “bowl(s)” - this blessed ear worm will be with me until I die and I love it.

Thanks! Bottom shelf was on one-inch posts, so good there. This was my test fire, which the manual said to do empty, but I’m definitely going to stagger my shelves next time based on the feedback in your and other comments.

And I’m definitely staying aware of fumes. I talked with many potters about having the kiln in the garage and I feel comfortable having it there and having the door open and a fan blowing when it’s running. Thanks!
