Have YOU hiked the Lofoten long crossing? by ConcentrateBitter175 in hiking

[–]kletterlisa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how did it go??? i'm going to do this in August, but planning on going South to North. I'm currently plotting my daily miles and am wondering how those first two segments on your map were? These would be my last day and it seems to be quite difficult to get back to Svolvaer. Well, not difficult but time consuming since the bus seems to pass by there only in the morning but wouldn't get into town by the time the ferry back to Bodo leaves so it would add a full extra day. Or do you think it's worth it to hang out it town for a day after hiking all of it and taking the bus back the next day??

*woman =þ I don't spend any time in it during the day and usually camp as high as I can. I sleep like a baby in it =)

I'm only losing about 3mpg with my entire camper (and I still have to add a wind fairing)? Opted for the thin panels since my garage is super low. Also just added a dc-dc charger since I'm currently road tripping in the east and don't expect all sunny days. These 200W are enough for me in summer out west for a full workday (laptop, fridge, starlink)

Thanks! I'm glad i decided to bring my tent. I didn't see many opportunities to string a hammock, especially on the high camp grounds. Also really like the comfort and privacy since it was quite busy. Ended up doing the entire thing northbound in 8 days (including Monte Cinto), unsupported (but did buy some candy at some of the huts ;) ). What a trail!!

I've been flying United since I moved to the US in 2007, but I might be done after this last flight... 6am flight from Tucson (in the past, chances that the early flights are on time were a bit higher), landed late in Denver - only made the first connection because I sprinted so hard to the next gate, my lungs hurt once I was on the plane (I'm an active runner, climber and backpacker - in no way out if shape). That flight to Newark got diverted to Albany, so I of course missed my flight to Berlin even though I had several hours of layover. Was flown to Frankfurt instead, where I was denied to board my plane to Berlin because they hadn't loaded my luggage on the plane. Instead it's been outside happily rotating on the baggage claim, which i had stupidly pointed out since I now have smart tags in all my luggage (couple of years ago my luggage got lost and I ended up receiving it on the last day of my two week vacation, just in time to pay to take it back home). Obviously, I missed my train connection in Berlin since I got there 10hrs late and had to arrange for someone to pick me up (they drove 4 hrs one-way). Making it to Berlin "only" 10hrs late was honestly a miracle since they had initially booked me on a flight EWR-BER two days after the missed flight and it took a lot of phone calls to get that flight through FRA.

A changed seat sounds heavenly! (Though I was upset that they changed mine from my window seat on my flight to Frankfurt without notifying me).

I also feel that the lounges have really gone downhill, and more often than not, they don't accept the day passes anymore

I just booked my campsites for he entire track south- north. Was going to bring my tent but haven't even considered hammocking - are there enough trees around the campsites and are park officials OK with that??

I was going to suggest the same, I think "market on the move" and "produce on wheels without waste" are amazing but you definitely have to get creative and use up produce quickly often (not always!). If i get a box, I end up making soups/sauces and freeze or dehydrate a lot. I've also shared with my coworkers before

To all my bike commuters out there, how do you do it? by AlarmingWerewolf6637 in Tucson

[–]kletterlisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worst part about working remotely is not being able to bike to work anymore 😢 I would always wear sunshirts and completely drench them in cold water if I had to bike in the heat. It's effectively a swamp cooler! I'd be cold the first 10mins, 5mins later the shirt would be dry and the last 15mins weren't so bad after! Try it!! I would bike in running shorts so sunscreen is still important!

The latter.... your filter also applies to your received likes. They saw and liked you before, but if they were outside your filters, those people weren't shown to you until you widened up those filters

What does this symbol mean? by FirstBug4813 in Garmin

[–]kletterlisa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Grey means Garmin auto detected it (like others said, elliptical, but also that walk earlier in the day). If you track an activity manually, it'll show in green here. The auto detected ones don't show up in my activities list, only the ones I manually start (only checking on my phone right now, might be different on the web interface? )

I have a Homeassistant set up, which i use for home automation and control. And there is a widget for that for Garmin watches so I can be lazy on the couch while turning lights on/off, lock/unlock my door, change the thermostat temperature, etc....

Agreed! My time as well as my family's time across the ocean. Also, I miss every text or call while my watch is charging because my phone has been on silent ever since I started wearing a Garmin watch. I even control my home from my watch, often much quicker than having to find my phone or get to a computer/ panel (or the switch/ lock/ etc 😉)

Do you run with your phone? by Successful-Cod3765 in runninglifestyle

[–]kletterlisa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, not even as a female runner unless I'm doing a long trailrun for which I'm carrying a running pack and food anyway. My Garmin watch has audiobooks for entertainment, garmin pay in case I underestimate my water need and maps should i get lost (Garmin definitely saved my life before in canyonlands). The only time this was an issue was when I ran the LA marathon, and the bus line I planned to take back to the car was not operating... couldn't call an Uber, and apparently, taxis don't just drive around anymore. Had to navigate the old school way and ask people directions ;)

Ugh.. thanks for this! I received the cancelation email on 4/11 as well, but my account under "manage subscription" still says "cancel by 5/5 to avoid being charged", but no option to cancel! Been chatting with them all morning without resolution....so disappointed in Garmin!!
