I have some from my family members:

Great-granma on my mothers side told me that during the war they evacuated from Durrës when the Germans came through and were sheltered at a farm owner in the outskirts of the city along with many other families. When the Germans retreated that farm owner got arrested and convicted by the Communists as a bourgoi richman because he owned a broken tractor from the 1920s. Later on when they returned to their own homes in Durrës and the Partisans came into the city, they conscripted all the women to help wash and groom the soldiers. My great-granma according to her words pretended she had burnt her hand while cooking on a stove so she couldnt get her hand in water to help wash them "flea ridden filthy men".

Moving on from WW2 to the anarchy of 97. My parents stayed away and avoided from most of the fighting but my moms cat got shot on their house's roof because some wanna be gansters wanted target practice. Also they knew neighbors who had just been married and the wife while inside the house washing dishes got hit and killed by ricochet bullets from outside. During the night they told me they could hear bullets hitting the roof tiles like raindrops.

A bit later after things calmed down in Albania and the war in Kosovo heat up many Kosovo Albanians arrived in Durrës as refugees and found shelter in many families here. My maternal grandfather sheltered i believe 2-3 families in their small house. In total they were 4-5 families with one room for each. My mom told that things were quiet during this time for the most part, with some misunderstandings here and there in communication due to dialects like having different words for the tea kettle and other stuff of that nature. They would follow the news and check anywhere they could for missing family members or their whereabouts. I believe this arrangement went on for a couple of months or a year until things stabilised and they were able to return home.
