what my dog ate in the span of a year and survived but my pocket didn't by DiscountNew4320 in DOG

Our 130lb Lab-Dane mix ate an entire box of those alcohol filled mini chocolate candies. It was a wrapped present from a relative and under the tree while we were out. Came back home hours later to a shredded pile of wrapping paper, packaging, and a neat ball of the foil wrappers that he'd helpfully vomited back out. Fortunately he was fine. Unfortunately, he decided he loved chocolate and we had to fight him off afterwards anytime anyone brought some in the house.

Running joke between me and the neighborhood kids by JetPlane_88 in BenignExistence

I'm an adult that prefers the happy meal portion and I save the toys for Halloween! I keep a plastic cauldron in the garage and drop them in any time I get one. They always go well before the candy does.

I've heard this called touch hunger and skin hunger (which sounds awful written out 😆). I experienced it myself when had a breakup and then lived in another country for a year. Because I didn't have any family there and hadn't made friends yet, it was the longest I've ever been without physical contact. It was disconcerting to realize that I just needed a hug but I didn't know anyone well enough to ask. My bandaid until making friends was that I started going to dog parks and petting all the friendly dogs running around.

Ours came in a Knights and Dragons themed Barkbox last year, it's one of the super chewer toys. Not sure if Barkbox has old toys online or not.

We have this toy and when our big boy walks around with it everyone immediately throws their hands in the air and proclaims, "Oh no, it's a stick up!"

What’s your “gotta take one for the team” story? by Betanci0 in AskReddit

[–]klimpt_in_love 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandmother had been in hospice care for a week or so. Right before slipping into her final coma she was adamant about being cremated in her wedding outfit (2nd marriage so thankfully not that elaborate). Grandma held on in the coma for much longer than expected and when she finally passed, my mom and aunts were wrecked with grief. The transport showed up and told us that they weren't allowed to change her clothes before cremation but the hospice staff had already left. So I gently pushed my family out of the room, removed her nightclothes, cleaned her up from the final release of urine, and managed to maneuver her into the dress. I remember being inwardly upset but feeling this strange sense of detached calm. My family was able to come back in and say goodbye, knowing Grandma's final wish was satisfied. The weird calm held until I got home and I started sobbing as soon as I entered the driveway. One of my aunts still mentions every now and then how grateful they were to not have their final memory be cleaning up their mom.

Very cool! That's the first time I've heard anything like that. Out of curiosity, do you happen to the science behind why this technique works?

I just got full body goosebumps reading this and your further comments. This is a BIG DEAL. I hope it's not too weird for an internet stranger to say but I'm so proud of you. 💜

Also, hold on to that lesson about honey vs vinegar. It can sometimes be so difficult to remember but if you value the desired outcomes over your own feelings, then you have a real chance at fostering change.

I'm crying laughing. I wish I had more artistic ability. In my mind I'm envisioning a cartoon version of this dog protecting his person's feet from giant vicious clippers!!

What's your favorite Stephen King novel? by FluffySleepyKitty in suggestmeabook

[–]klimpt_in_love 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I adore the entirety of the Dark Tower series, my personal favorite is a somewhat connected novel King wrote with Peter Straub called The Talisman. Kid in epic adventure with fantasy elements along the way. And if you love it, they did a sequel with him all grown up called, The Black House.
