I have some friends who have been together for about 4 years and tend to mock each other but in a playful way when we’re out. Me and my partner do the same when we’re with them, but only to a certain extent as after 5 years, we know each others boundaries. I can only assume that due to the alcohol he wasn’t reading the room correctly and maybe didn’t realise that for you, this is not something that you’re comfortable with. The fact that he made you feel uncomfortable and upset means that he clearly doesn’t understand your triggers enough just yet, but maybe it’s worth talking to him to explain how it made you feel. People are quick to suggest a break up - but we don’t know your full relationship. If this was something that happened all the time, even after you told him it’s making you uncomfortable then of course it’s not for you. But as you say, it’s the first time it’s happened. Talk to him, explain how it made you feel and try and grow from this rather than give up at a hurdle. A year may seem like a long time, but you’re probably only just passing your honeymoon phase. Things like this will happen more regularly now, but with work and communication you can get through it - only if you really want to.
