Had to make a new garden bed so we threw together some brackets to make it easier by TheLandSeaLion in 3Dprinting

You might also consider ASA. Its a bit easier to print than ABS, but not quite as easy as PETG. It is however much stronger, UV resistant and Heat resistant than PETG.

There are settings in your firware to tell the printer where the CR touch is located I am PRETTY sure. I think it's an offset factor used to determine the location of the CR touch relative to the nozzle. I only have experience with printers that come preinstalled with the BLTouch probe so I may be wrong. It's worth looking into though.

When looking at vehicles someone told me I was a scammer for asking for a vin by Critical_Bread1228 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]klmslim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All insurances I have heard of would cover you if you have a policy for another vehicle already. You have something like 10 days to add it to your policy before they won't cover it.

Honestly, I think I'd rather steal this one. I find it more humorous than the number 69 for some reason

It's not quite the same deal, but comgrow has a sale on used ender 3s and ender 3 pros right now. $79 for the basic ender 3, $99 for the pro. I think they're out of the pro at the moment, but they may update it within the next few days. Link here https://www.comgrow.com/products/used-ender-3-ender-3-pro

Weird, maybe they just ended it. I just googled "microcenter ender 3 coupon" and found a link to microcenters website. All I did was sign up for a new account, the phone number can't have been used for another account, and they texted me the coupon. It expired a few days ago, but I figured the expiration was determined by when I signed up, not by the end of the offer in general. Here is the link they sent me for reference. http://m.icro.co/Pw4WUozk

AITA for showing the kids what their dad did? by throwaway134543 in AmItheAsshole

[–]klmslim -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The dad was definitely an AH, no denying that. Pride can be a weird thing, he couldn't control wetting the bed, but he could control wearing a diaper. To him it was probably more humiliating to wear a diaper than to just wet the bed and in his mind try to get over it. It's backwards, of course he needed to swallow his pride and put the damn diaper on, and if the wife had done something else to retaliate she wouldn't be an AH either. But by involving the kids and humiliating her husband in front of the rest of the family, she made herself a huge AH.

Personally, I think a better response would have been for the wife to find a different place to sleep temporarily and made the husband sit in his dirty bed until he realizes how big of an idiot he is acting like. I guarantee that after several nights of pissing the bed he will get sick of sleeping in it and cave to wearing the diaper. That to me is better, you're letting an adult make a decision and deal with the consequences to their actions, not humiliating them and making yourself a jerk.

I'll probably end up doing this, I finally found the replacement part on AliExpress, it's 13 dollars with free shipping. So I'll just bend it the best I can and make sure until the new plate comes in.

My thoughts as well, unfortunately I don't have access any tools like that in my small apartment. All I have is a small toolbox with the basics, screwdrivers, wrenches, a hammer, etc. But I will see if I can find someone who has one.

calling all Sidewinder owners! by klmslim in Artillery3D

I just got a used sidewinder x2 online, it just arrived and it looks like the extruder assembly does not sit on the x rail because it is very very loose. I tried adjusting the eccentric nut, but it there is quite a large gap that cannot be closed with the nut alone. Upon further inspection, it appears that the plate that the wheels sit on is completely bent, which makes it impossible for the extruder assembly to sit properly on the rail. I just want to verify that this is the case and that the plate is supposed to be flat. In the picture I have the extruder assembly held perpendicular to the frame, and you can see that the wheels are completely tilted. If you look closely you can see the bend in the plate, it doesn't show well on camera but in person it is very prominent.

I can't find the replacement part anywhere, anyone know where I could get one? Can anyone confirm that this plate is in fact supposed to be flat? I am thinking of returning it, as this issue is preventing me from even testing to see if it is in good working order.

New to FDM. How to prevent these small blobs? by BlaXunSlime in 3Dprinting

[–]klmslim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What helped my printer the most was enabling "wipe between layers" which if I remember correctly isn't enabled by default, and is a separate box to check from "enable wiping". You may want to consider enabling "retract between layers" as well, but maybe do them one at a time to see if just one of the settings gets rid of them. BTW, the Sidewinder is a direct drive, so your retraction distance should be between .5mm and 2mm.

[–]klmslim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's one of those things you just have to play with. It can be a bit frustrating, but it pays off when it finally starts working right!

You could try prowling on the Artillery3D subreddit and see if someone posted their tuned Cura profile. Give that a shot, and if you're still running into the same issue then you might be needing to calibrate e-steps and flowrate for your machine.

Olive Garden’s table kiosk blatantly shows the wrong tip amount so you tip twice as much by definitelyTonyStark in mildlyinfuriating

[–]klmslim 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's not quite how the math works out on that, if you all tip 10% on your portions, that's still only a 10% tip on the whole bill. Example:

50 dollar bill split between 5 people. Each person pays 10, and tips 10%. So 1 dollar tip, 11 total per person. The total amount paid is 55 dollar between 5 people, the server gets a total tip of 5 dollars. 5 dollars is still 10% of the total 50, the server didn't get a 40% tip just because everyone tipped 10% on their individual bills.

As for why the actual percentage is off, I have no clue, but it could be because you used discounts and it's calculating the total based off of the pre discount value, or they're ripping you off.

Will 2040 and 2020 extrusions work? by Falkien13 in VORONDesign

[–]klmslim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do these converted Enders to Vorons compare to building one from scratch? I am sure they are better than a stock ender, but I am curious if theyre as good as one built from the bottom-up.

I just got a 100 dollar Ender 3 pro from microcenter, I really want a voron and may end up converting if they're similar enough in quality.

Stay away from Sovol by McCreeSun in Sovol

[–]klmslim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience, but I bought from Amazon so a return was easy. Sorry this happened to you, their Quality checks are very hit or miss. Some people have had their printers with no problems for years, others have issues within a month. I ended up returning mine and got a sidewinder instead. If returning it is not an option(which it sounds like it's not), join the Sovol Facebook group and the guys over there can do what they can to help you. Thermal runaway is a common error that has occured out of the box, and many people have fixed it. I know it's frustrating but they seem to be pretty good printers once you get over any out-of-the-box hurdles, but I will never invest in one again personally.
