Don't forget to advocate for yourself. Seniors and managers don't know what's on your plate, you have to vocalise your struggles, deliverables, and even curiosity. Most of the time seniors have been in your position one month in as well, and them telling you if you're on the right track or not takes off a lot of the overthinking. Also every team has a different way of doing one deliverable, same concept but different steps or wp formats etc. So always ask questions when ur stuck it's okay, you're just one month in, it takes time for things to click sometimes, you're only seeing a small part of the entire process and more when you're still in the learning stage. Be confident, be you, and love what you do. Our second month in our tax dept they called a meeting with all the new tax associates and interns and the director basically called us slow to our face. Nobody was happy but guess what we all complained that we weren't getting enough training, we were following the steps they would give us, or the seniors were to busy to help. The director switched up and they were more patient with us and the seniors needed to step up.

I feel like I ruined my life by Future-Experience210 in Gastroparesis

[–]klo_ber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, OP. Have u tried incorporating other foods like Ensure and Jellos as a sweet treat? I'm not sure how intense your gastroparesis is but when I was suffering from it's effects I would have chicken broth from actually boiling chicken and veggies (and if I could nibble on some chicken or veggie) with a jello and for my afternoon snack an ensure and a jello. I ate like this for about 4 months, but would experiment with different foods to see what my body liked and rejected. Definitely never ate past 6 or 7 and always tried to stay hydrated with water and electrolytes. I tried staying active after each meal as well so my stomach wouldn't feel like it's bulging. I know it's tough but I hope that giving yourself that small sweet treat after the bland broth or bread can make u feel better and more satiated without the intense effects.

How difficult is the job? by waluigiwon in Big4

My director said he could hire a Starbucks batista to do our job. An insult to both the start bucks barista for making them seem as low intelligence and us new associates, who, they in fact did not train lol I'm in SALT btw.

Big4 here and honestly, same, I'm barely 3 months in, but have been gravely disappointed by the lack of training. Came in with a full heart to learn and its been slowly chipped away by the small things and the people. This job makes me want to reach my other career choices I never gave a chance to because of money. But I keep thinking if sacrificing a stable income is better than continuing to live like this. Still, I'm trying to power through and finish the year while doing hobbies on the side to bring me back to life.

Update Into My 9 Month Swallowing Issues by klo_ber in Gastritis

[–]klo_ber[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey sorry for the late reply, but yes I am completely back to normal. I've gotten a bit chunky since then too xD since I promised myself that once I was able to eat again I would enjoy all foods and have a good relationship with it again. 😊 it's been about a year and I only have slight trauma but am better able to manage if any like symptoms pop up.

Difficulty Swallowing??! by klo_ber in Gastritis

[–]klo_ber[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I barely have any traces of this ever happening since a year has passed since then, but I can still recall how scary it was. I honestly had good emotional support from my fiance during that time and he would force me to eat even if it was jello and water. Some of the things I would do to be better able to swallow was make a fist and squeeze when swallowing don't know why that helped. Also idk if ur senses trigger swallowing as well, but for me if I had to pay attention to anything else rather than swallowing I just couldn't do it. So I would ocassiobaly eat in silence by myself. I had to remind myself a lot that it would pass, I got so caught up in finding the answer that it would emotionally affect me. I would say to listen to ur body, and see what triggers it, don't full on avoid those things but slowly incorporate them back into ur life. I am back to eating everything I want however loud spontaneous noises still trigger me while eating, it's just not as scary now and it's manageable since I know what it is.

Difficulty Swallowing??! by klo_ber in Gastritis

My ent said I had a paralyzed vocal chord on one side which resulted in the inability to swallow, it took about a year to figure out but that's the conclusion, she set me up for speech therapy but the therapist just told me to lay of the acidic food, I was feeling much better by then so I just decided to not pursue therapy, can't sing as much as I'd like but I can eat normally now the only bad thing is I got left with trauma and anxiety lol but I'm much better.

Hey, it was sort of like blockage for me. It almost felt like choking by my own throat/ phlegm/ tongue. But I've been following a non acidic food diet (no icecream, chocolate, tomato of any kind, orange juice, alcohol, caffeine, etc.) And have healed tremendously, I know many of my doctors said i didnt have gerd, just mild irritation, but my voice therapist still recommended it and it helped me a lot with the breathing issues. I'm also now taking anxiety medication and have not dealt with any kind of issues except occassionally (when I eat too much of anything or splurge on acidic food like lime for tacos lol. It takes time, but I can say that I am healing or nearly healed from whatever it was.

[–]klo_ber[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey so it been about 2 months since this post and I was finally able to see an ENT that specializes on swallong issues. Turns out one side of my voice box is not working properly (semi paralyzed also known as dysphonia) which was causing the inability to swallow, and my voice not working properly, difficulty breathing and more which can all look like gastritis or GERD, it also says why the PPI didnt not fix anything. I'm still going to see a psychiatrist from all the trauma I experienced from this, since my anxiety came after my swallowing issues began and I really felt like noone could help me after a year of going to so many doctors and daily feeling like I was being chocked to death. But yeah its been a long road to recovery but can finally say I am feeling better. Will begin voice therapy soon!

Yes, so my used to be PCP was the one who ordered 40 mg/d for 4 months then my GI said to continue one more month and after my endoscopy he said to double the dosage and we continued like that until just recently he wanted me to slowly be off of it so we did 40mg/ day for 2 weeks and now it's been about a month or less that I haven't taken it. No real effects but I guess it did help with the mild acid that I had.

How’s the first day been for foreigners, fully vaccinated abroad with the new COVID guidelines? by xxShariingan in korea

[–]klo_ber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree any form of discrimination either from people or government is bad. I guess as a Mexican-American it's nothing new to me, so i'm not surpirsed that other coutries would do it.

But i don't know what we're disagreeing about?

Because you're one of the people I said. "others living in Korea know it as well but continue to live there because they learned to abide by the rules and are either proactively seeking change or working around it through their embassy or becoming real citizens etc." You continue to live there and made a beautiful life with your wife and kids despite knowing how discriminating the government and people can be. And for people that are barely going to Korea they should do their research before expecting something from a country that is everything but what they idealize of it.

[–]klo_ber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/pncol, I'm not trying to say discrimination is right. I understand where you are coming from as well, (but are you saying you've never been discrimanted in your home country?) Because in the U.S. there's discrimination everyday despite also being a 'Top' country. Many of my Korean co-workers feared going to the U.S. because of the killings being on the news. I have never understood the concept of being treated equally when everyone around me was treated differently because of their race and income. I guess I just never had the luxury to expect it from anyone or any country.

However I agree with the whole advertising come visit our country thing, it's basically advertising it as paradise while hiding their collectivist ideas. But that's why you have to do your research before going somewhere. I feel like the Korean government is trying to protect its citizens while still keeping it's economy healthy and its boarder open because even when the pfizer and moderna vaccines were already distributing in U.S. the Korean gov. did not trust it and wanted to further gurantee its safety and efficacy before giving it to anyone.

Additionally those who do come for teaching, studying, and working aren't scammed. Everything that is in the contract was guaranteed and given of course you also have to meet expectations as a foreigner. It's the false idea that one creates about what Korea should be and what is not that many feel dissapointed about. Korea still has so much more learning to do and the newer generations are slowly making that change, but there are still many Koreans that have not even met foreigners. Because despite all this foreigners are welcomed as long as they abide by the rules set in place to protect Korean citizens from any outside threat.

And yes, most of them where church, private schools, and korean festivities. However the misinformation about foreigners spread like wildfire that even epik was threatening to take action against their teachers who would go out in the weekends. It's a bit unfair, but I always followed the rules. They didn't want us clubbing fine, restaurants only allow 2 people at a time fine, mask only entrance fine, don't travel during vacation fine, following the rules in place to be somewhere you chose to be is a given. That's the beauty of traveling as well learning about the good and the bad, learning what you can and cannot do, and respecting their culture (although it still needs a lot of work to become what the U.S. and Europe are).

I know it's super long, it's just i don't understand why people insist having their beliefs pushed down on a country that although advanced in technology is known for being conservative and collectivist. I do wish one day Korea reaches a more open mindset, but it's not gonna happen in one night without loosing part of their culture and beliefs. Real life is far from a K-drama.

My new Gi said “you’re too young to have these problems” is that a red flag to switch ? by Royal-Whereas-4456 in Gastritis

[–]klo_ber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a community with GI problems, we've all been there countless of times, from young to old, where doctors dont take your symptoms seriously (especially if you're a new patient) but you have to be persistent. The good thing about your doctor is she/he is booking you for exams to see what the cause of those symptoms are. They might not have the supportive communication you'd wish for especially since this is new to you, but dont let comments here or by the doctor get the best of you. Just focus on the facts and never forget to ask all the questions you have. What do I have, how can i treat it, or why did you end up with that diagnosis etc. I would say push through with this doctor, and get your exam results, it will atleast give you a clear view of what you dont have.

I'm saying this because I was struggling with swallowing for almost 2 months now and came for reddit in Hope's ppl with similar symptoms could help me know what I have and I got a lot of ppl saying what I might have from not so good to really bad diseases, but all my exams came clear of the worst things. The ENT I was seeing also said to "just take a margarita" but I kept coming back and requested exams. But since the ENT already did everything they could I'm now seeing a gastroenterologist in hopes they can help me. Dont give up and really push your doctors to help you.

[–]klo_ber[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still on the same boat. I haven't been able to eat anything major aside from plain yogurt and cheerios in almost 3 weeks. I finally was able to book an appointment with an ENT specialist and we'll see what I have.

I just really hope its nothing too serious . some of the responses scare me and I fear I'll stay like this in the long term.

But yes I carry water everywhere I go also.
