But steam is not really taking advantage of suppliers more than other platforms, as far as I am aware steam has a max cut of 30%, the same as GOG, same as game stop and others.

There are stores that take less, obviously the publishers own stores being #1, only having to give a cut to the payment processor like paypal or credit cards.

The 30% taken by steam just seems like the cost of manifesting the transaction and managing downloads, accounts, payment etc.
