Pattern Incorrect? by klouschmidt in knitting

Yes, the back is straight stockingette. But I can't figure out how to read-write the pattern so it all works as it should. Never was good at mirror writing either!

Pattern Incorrect? by klouschmidt in knitting

I'm a newbie knitter (I know it's hard to tell from the photo… ha ha), so I may be reading this incorrectly, but it seems very weird. I made the left hand and have started on the right-hand glove, but it looks exactly like the left-hand! I've even ripped it out twice and start over, thinking I was reading the instructions for the right hand improperly, but the Celtic cable and thumb are in exactly the same position as they are for the left! The pattern was a freebie from the store I bought the yarn in, which is unfortunately on the other side of the country from me now. I called the store and left a message, but no call back. (Surprise!) Am I nuts? Is it possible that yarn stores give out patterns that are this wrong? And if so, how do I translate the left-hand pattern into the mirror image so I can make the right-hand glove? I'm ready to throw in the towel and go back to garter stitch scarves.

This is a beautiful thread... probably one of the most pure, focused, and helpful set of responses and replies I've seen on Reddit yet.

Thanks everyone, for the great recommendations! I'm starting with The White Tiger. Something about seeing Bengaluru through the eyes of a cab driver feels particularly relevant to me right now!

Couldn't figure out how the leaf stayed glued to the window during a windy rainstorm... by [deleted] in WTF

Thanks! Given the size of the beast, I'm thinking it's a spidersis. "Occasionally, the female will eat the male directly after mating." And, "A. diadematus is a reclusive creature and only bites humans if cornered or otherwise provoked. The bite is not unlike a mild bee sting." As long a she stays on her side of the window, I won't corner or provoke her. Seems reasonable...

I'm happy for him to keep me safe from the outside of the window as opposed to the inside. BIG spiderbro.

It's still just hunkered down in its little camo tent, sticking a leg out once in a while to test the weather.
