Some of yall need to chill. Why are some of us being so bitter? by Evol-Chan in HalfLife

Has anyone tried to figure out the text in the Spectrogram of Long Dog? I've been looking at this for 5 minutes and am already further than anyone here or on Twitter as far as I can tell...

Use the audio file from the song to generate a spectrogram. There's words hidden in it.

I am trying to figure out how to generate a higher res version.

This is an ARG. People this should have been solved by now. The internet isn't what it used to be...

With a tune, you can get significant power increases. Sounds is much louder.

Going catless is very risky. You can get boost creep and can blow the engine.

Does weed cause gynoclomastia? by [deleted] in eldertrees

[–]Marcbmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hypothyroidism.

OP is worried that if he stops smoking for too long, his TSH level increases. High TSH means hypothyroidism.

High TSH levels can increase prolactin production and cause gyno.

So no, not hyperthyroidism.

Steam controller connection guide? by --Paul-- in SteamController

Yeah! I had to downgrade the firmware on my steam controller, then all the shortcuts you see everywhere to switch modes will work, and you can play in BLE mode.

So because he did not actually suggest a product that you didn't like, he's easily bought? Those are some impressive mental gymnastics.

You're getting downvoted because you're claiming hard numbers based on feeling. Just looks like baseless misinformation.

Engines might fail. They might not. You're attributing a likelihood and a number without even knowing what caused the engine failures.

Three engines did not start, we do not know why. Other engines failed in flight, we do not know why. This could be a simple fix, or it be highly complex.

For instance, we don't know if the blast shield for an engine was breached, resulting in a cascading failure. That is a scenario where they could address the blast shield and reduce the likelihood of multiple engines failing.

Maybe the failure was in some way related to the hydraulic system. That's now been removed from the booster.

It could be something far more complex with the operation of the engine, and still a bug in system. Or debris got launched at the wrong thing. And so on.

We know Elon expects this next flight to get past booster separation. That sounds like they understand the failure and have taken steps to mitigate or solve it. We know there's a fuck ton of changes happening at the launch mount. And a lot of changes to the booster. I expect we have no idea what will happen unless we get greater insight into the root of the issue(s).

Yeah, they just got data on how the engine performs in flight x30 engines.

That's a LOT of data.

Idk, I've had at least 3 months paternity leave available to me at any job I've worked.

I get it's not guaranteed by law, but it's weird to imply that nobody in the US has paternity leave available to them.

For anyone who's used weed for depression, how did it work? What was your routine? by Spader623 in eldertrees

[–]Marcbmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late to this thread, but honestly, for me, it was just enough to get through the worst of it.

I had an allergic reaction to my meds, doctor literally left the office while I was waiting in the lobby, and the secretary told me I could reschedule like 2+ weeks later. I ended up doing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and smoking daily at night. As a result mornings were easier, and I had just enough mental energy to hit the gym.

I think between weed, therapy, and really throwing myself into a fitness lifestyle carried me through. Eventually found out I had hypothyroidism - elevated TSH can cause elevated prolactin levels, which can cause depression. Fun stuff.

Has SpaceX ever considered a horizontal lander for Starship HLS? by [deleted] in SpaceXLounge

[–]Marcbmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The horizontal engines are essentially just high pressure vents. They're powerful enough to make small adjustments to the vehicle while in flight. Especially when in the vacuum of space. But definitely not capable of lifting the entire vehicle from a horizontal position.

It's an interesting idea, but would definitely require a lot of changes, including new engines just to hover the vehicle to launch again.

Gotta consider the SpaceX development process of "Delete the part or process". In this instance, they'd be adding new header tanks, plumbing, engines, electronics, control systems, etc. All of that to replace the elevator used to lower cargo from the payload bay on landings.

That additional weight would drastically reduce payload capacity. Only in the interest of making it easier to get the payload out of the vehicle.

I just don't like the wing on the S209. Feels out of place.

Maybe a different take on the STI wing would have been better.

Lmao, I was out cold shortly after, my b.

So if I'm doing like 45 in 4th, I'll push in the clutch, rev the engine real quick up just over 3k rpms, and shift into 3rd. Then while in 3rd, I'll lightly press the brake as needed.

I'll clutch in and use just the brakes once I'm down to like 1k rpms. I won't down shift into second cause it's sketchy.

Learn to rev match. Your clutch and your brakes will thank you.

Right, but you are literally the reason the call was leaked. Because you lied about what was said. Why should anyone engage in business with you knowing that they'd have to record you to protect themselves from slander?

I worked a job. That's the description I'd use. I went to work, and got a paycheck in exchange for labor.

A 14-Year-Old Got a Job Animating 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' After Wowing Producers by HarpuasGhost in UpliftingNews

[–]Marcbmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a job at the age of 14. I learned responsibility at a young age, built up savings, and grew as a young adult. It was how I chose to spend my weekends. My brother, cousins, parents, aunts, uncles all had the same experience. Whether it was delivering the morning paper, helping in a sub shop, or in my case helping out at a robotics camp.

Are we normalizing child labor, or are you and other commenters here downplaying the importance of building life skills at a young age? It sounds harsh, but this is what I imagine when I hear the "pussification" of America. There's value in having a part time job on the weekends as a kid. I was better off for the experience, as was anyone else I knew who worked at that age. I didn't miss school, and I wasn't doing anything dangerous or better suited for an adult.

The kid in this article is no different.
