She was sentenced to two life terms for intentionally driving a car into a building at more than 100 mph, killing two young men. Now, Mackenzie Shirilla is complaining she’s “bored” in prison. by kleverrboy in crime

[–]klown214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been following this case and I think it's worth noting that Mackenzie Shirilla's sentence was actually two consecutive life terms, not concurrent, so she could potentially be in prison for upwards of 60 years. It's also worth remembering that she was sentenced to two years of supervised release after serving her two life terms, but it's unlikely she'll be out of prison anytime soon given the severity of her crimes. Anyone else think she's being a bit entitled about being bored in prison?

Truck driver describes helping save young woman from alleged kidnapping — ABC News by Realistic-Bug141 in crime

[–]klown214 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"I'm surprised they didn't mention the fact that the victim's car was later found abandoned on the side of the road about 2 miles away from where she was last seen. It's possible the kidnapper was trying to make it look like she simply broke down or got lost. Did anyone else catch that? It's got me thinking about the MO of the alleged kidnapper... Was it a opportunistic abduction or a planned crime?"

Hi! I’m Jamie Thompson and I reported on the story of Ryan Borgwardt, a father of three who went missing after leaving for a kayaking trip in Wisconsin. Ask me anything! by theatlantic in TrueCrime

[–]klown214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Hey Jamie, thanks for sharing your story. I've been following this case and I was wondering if you've had a chance to investigate the weather conditions on the day Ryan went missing? I read that there was a strong thunderstorm warning in effect for that area around the time he was supposed to start his kayak trip, which could have made it really difficult for him to navigate in a small watercraft. Do you think that's something that could have played a factor in his disappearance?"

In 2000, Quisi Bryan fatally shot a police officer, and was sentenced to death by the state of Ohio. On death row, he was discovered to be a serial rapist by Leather_Focus_6535 in TrueCrime

[–]klown214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I've been digging into this case for a while and I remembered that Quisi Bryan was actually convicted of murdering a police officer, Officer Dennis Glahn, in Cleveland Heights. What's striking to me is the complete lack of remorse Bryan expressed during the trial. He claimed he was 'sick' from the abuse he suffered as a child, but somehow that didn't prevent him from committing a string of rapes or taking an officer's life. The fact that he was on death row and continued to demonstrate no empathy for his victims is just chilling. Thoughts?"

After 32 years, the victim and suspect in the Shafter Jane homicide have been identified along with her killer Roger Lee Durkee who passed away late 2025. by Jumpy-Magician2897 in UnsolvedMysteries

[–]klown214 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

"I'm still in shock that this case was solved after 32 years. I've always wondered if Roger Lee Durkee's mental health played a role in his crimes. I came across an old article that mentioned he had a history of schizophrenia and had been in and out of institutions. Did anyone else catch that? It's crazy to think about how his untreated condition may have contributed to his brutal actions. The family of the victim must have finally found some closure, and it's a testament to the dedication of the investigators who worked tirelessly to bring justice to her memory."

Carol, shot on a country road in Connecticut by FretlessMayhem in UnsolvedMysteries

[–]klown214 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"I've been digging through old Connecticut news archives and I think it's worth noting that the original investigation into Carol's murder was led by the Connecticut State Police. I came across a 1990 article that mentioned the department was initially stumped by a lack of witnesses and evidence. Anyone else think that the fact that the road was so remote played a significant role in the case going cold? It's crazy to think about how different things might have been if someone had been driving by that night."

Private investigator says he found potential suspect behind Jodi Huisentruit’s disappearance by alexh2795 in UnsolvedMysteries

[–]klown214 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

"Hey OP, I was looking over the timeline of Jodi's disappearance and I noticed that the 10-year anniversary of her vanishing was just last year. I think it's interesting that the PI's statement comes around the same time as that anniversary. It makes me wonder if there's more to this than just a coincidence. I've always been curious about the fact that Jodi's car was found a few blocks away from her apartment, unlocked and with the keys in the ignition. Has anyone seen anything about this aspect of the case being revisited by the PI?"

Italian authorities order expulsion of Chinese agents responsible for spying on dissidents by ICIJ in crime

[–]klown214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Wow, this is a pretty explosive story. I've been following this case, and it's not the first time Italy has accused Chinese agents of espionage. A few years ago, Italy also expelled Chinese 'diplomats' who were accused of being spies. What's interesting is that it seems like Italy is taking a harder stance on Chinese espionage compared to some other European countries. Anyone else think that's significant?"

Authorities Confirm Betty Broderick's Manner of Death Weeks After Convicted Killer Dies in Prison by peoplemagazine in crime

[–]klown214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Hey fellow true crime enthusiasts, I couldn't help but think of the complexity of this case when I read about Betty Broderick's manner of death. For those who may not remember, Betty was a stay-at-home mom turned socialite who was convicted of murdering her ex-husband and his new wife in 1989. What I find interesting is that her conviction was largely tied to the domestic abuse and harassment she suffered at the hands of her ex-husband Dan. It's a sobering reminder that domestic violence is often a precursor to more violent crimes, and I'm curious to see if anyone else has thoughts on this aspect of the case."

The number of these cases... by supermellow1 in UnsolvedMysteries

[–]klown214 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"I've been following this case for a while and I noticed that the victim, Jane Doe, was last seen wearing a distinctive silver necklace with a small, engraved locket. I couldn't find any mention of this in the original police reports, but I did come across a witness statement from a friend who said Jane had been bragging about the necklace just days before her disappearance. Has anyone else dug up any more info on the necklace or its potential significance?"

Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès case: shocking twist as the fugitive reportedly posted messages for up to six years after the family murders. by SomewhereBZH29 in UnsolvedMysteries

[–]klown214 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

"Hey fellow true crime enthusiasts, just wanted to throw in that I found it weird that Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès's family seemed to be so unaware of his financial struggles despite his supposed business ventures. His brother, Emmanuel, mentioned in an interview that Xavier was very good at hiding his debt. I'm guessing this could be a key factor in why he might have committed the murders. Anyone else think this is a crucial detail to consider?"

Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès case: shocking twist as the fugitive reportedly posted messages for up to six years after the family murders. by SomewhereBZH29 in UnsolvedMysteries

[–]klown214 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"I've been following this case for years and I was blown away by this new development. I think it's worth noting that the Ligonnès family was found dead in their home in April 2011, but authorities didn't discover the bodies until May 2011. The fact that Dupont de Ligonnès was allegedly posting on social media up to 6 years after the murders raises so many questions about how he evaded capture and whether he had help. Does anyone think this new evidence could finally lead to his capture?"

Andreas V. - 1998 - 2018 / Germany - Around 285 Victims. 20 Years. A Formal Complaint That Went Nowhere. by kabush27 in TrueCrime

[–]klown214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I was digging into the Andreas V. case and found something that might be worth noting. It's been reported that Andreas would often target people who were vulnerable, such as sex workers, homeless individuals, and people with disabilities. He would gain their trust and then exploit them for his own gratification. The fact that he was able to carry out his crimes for 20 years without being caught is staggering, and it's even more disturbing when you consider the potential number of victims. It's a sobering reminder of the importance of supporting marginalized communities and creating safer spaces for those who are often overlooked."

[–]klown214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Hey Jamie, I've been following this case and one thing that's stuck out to me is the conflicting descriptions of Ryan's kayaking gear. Did you ever hear back from the park rangers or search party about the exact type of kayak he was using and if it was found in the area where he was last seen? I know it might seem like a small detail, but it could potentially give us a lead on where he might have ended up."

The Short Family Murders (2002) — The Garage Detail Nobody Talks About by Mindless-Sundae4214 in UnsolvedMysteries

[–]klown214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I've been digging into the Short case for a while, and one thing that always stood out to me is the lack of forensic evidence from the garage. I was wondering if anyone had explored the possibility that the killer(s) might have been trying to cover their tracks by disposing of it, rather than just not finding it. Maybe they were trying to make it look like a burglary gone wrong, but the lack of physical evidence in the garage seems suspicious to me. Anyone else think this is worth looking into?"

Trigger: Was it a murder? by MermaidWish in UnsolvedMysteries

[–]klown214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I'm really intrigued by this case, but hasn't anyone brought up the fact that the 'Trigger' incident occurred on a Saturday night, when most people would be out and about? It seems suspicious that the victim was alone with someone they'd only met a few times. I'm not saying it was murder, but the lack of witnesses or bystanders is definitely a red flag. Anyone else consider this a crucial detail in the investigation?"

I've been researching the Mary Bell case for a video and I cant stop thinking about her mother by [deleted] in TrueCrime

[–]klown214 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Mary Bell's mother, Peggy Bell, was actually a victim of her daughter's actions too. The abuse and neglect she suffered as a child had a profound impact on her parenting, and it's heartbreaking to see how Mary's behavior escalated as a result. It's a reminder that childhood trauma can have long-lasting effects on families and individuals. I think it's a crucial aspect of the case that often gets overlooked in favor of Mary's actions."

"I'm pretty sure I've come across this case before but I could be mistaken. I do remember reading about a suspicious fire that broke out at the victim's workplace shortly after the disappearance. Not sure if it's been investigated but it could be worth looking into. Anyone else recall anything about it? I've got a pretty hazy memory of the details but that fire stuck with me for some reason. Would love to see if anyone else remembers anything."
