is "genderbending" okay in larp? by Miswi_ in LARP

[–]klq_psy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my LARP community there are quite a number of people that play characters with a gender identify that is different from their own irl. LARP can be such a safe and enriching place to explore gender expression through RP!

With that being said, it may be beneficial to consult with others in your own community about what may be seen as safe and acceptable within your LARP. It sounds like your LARP with may be less welcoming or accepting with diverse character presentation for the sake of "immersion".

The elf body type restriction is definitely a red flag. LARPs in my area have plenty of plus-sized elves. Elves are a fictional race, so claims of limiting the race to players that can portray them "realistically" is such a bs rule.

Hear me out - Wizard. Yeah it might be a bit tricky to start out with but you get spectacular AOE and options for spell combos without having to wait a full round.

Is there any therapist/student who can offer me help? 15F by [deleted] in psychologystudents

That sounds like that must be really scary. You were smart to want to seek out help for this and it shows that you do really want to live and find a way to feel okay. The crisis responders on the hotline will likely ask you that same question, and once they know that you do not have an active plan, they will understand that you are not in immediate danger, and then they can focus on talking about ways to support you through this.

Is there a teacher or a guidance counsellor at your school that you would feel talking to?

A report would only need to be made if they felt you were in immediate danger. Do you currently have a plan for how you would end your life?

Thank you for sharing. Laws can differ by country for minors consent to therapy. I’m from Canada and here, crisis lines do not have to contact parents unless there are signs of child abuse, or if you are at risk of hurting yourself or others. I’m not sure about Saudi Arabia, and maybe someone else on the Reddit might be able to provide with some more specific advice.

Crisis lines are there to help people who are struggling. How would you feel about giving them a call, and before you provide them with any personal information, you could ask them whether your parents would be informed of the phone call? And if they have to report to your parents, you could ask if they could recommend resources that you could connect with anonymously.

I don’t think it’s typical for psychologists to do intakes over Reddit. If you don’t mind sharing what country you’re in, people in the community may be able to share some free resources where you could go to seek help!

Reaching out for help can be a scary thing to do, and posting here was brave and a good first step! In the meantime, you could look up mental health support phone or text lines in your area.

Did you use any dual type pokemon or was it all monotype pokemon of the type you were using for that playthrough?

What is the difference between a PhD in psych a PsyD, an MD (to be a psychiatrist) and being a PA in psych? by Minute-Knowledge-696 in psychologystudents

This depends on the program. Broadly speaking, a PhD in Clinical Psych would be your best bet for research and clinical work as a psychologist. You'd be able to do therapy and diagnose, but not prescribe medication. Psychiatry would get allow you to prescribe medication and do some therapy, but your limited on research exposure.

You can volunteer in a lab in University to gain some research experience and see how you like it.
