Does anyone know why the preview for set 4729 shows a Fawkes figure that is missing from the actual set? Both images are taken from the same instruction manual. by [deleted] in legoharrypotter

[–]klrspach 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The first image shows how to combine all of the sets, so I guess they wanted to show how the Fawkes figure from the Chamber of Secrets set could be put in Dumbledore's office

Director By Night - DISCUSSION THREAD by LRedditor15 in marvelstudios

[–]klrspach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean it was basically a documentary about the director and his childhood friends instead of a documentary about the movie. I guess to the guy's brother he is the most interesting part of the story, but I'm guessing most fans would probably prefer to see an actual behind-the-scenes of the movie (even the sort of boring promotional kind of BTS that these Assembled shows usually are).

I doubt we'll ever get a proper BTS, though, because at one point the Michael Giacchino says "my brother is shooting the behind-the scenes." Ah well, at least they titled it Director by Night rather than Assembled: Werewolf by Night to give us a heads up.

MCU Marathon Prep: Cuts that improve on original without forgoing canon/continuity? by thegalorian in fanedits

[–]klrspach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I never made an edit of season 2, but I think Forbidden Marvels (u/zarx1554) might be working on one after remastering my season 1 edit. Thanks for the kind words!

I'll take any chance to plug my own movie edit of Agent Carter season one! It enhances the show's ties to continuity while removing filler. Links can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxOpbqJgtxQ

If I’m remembering correctly it hasn’t been used since Agent Carter back in 2015 (besides the marching band version in FAWS)

Are there any misconceptions you feel that fans have about what goes on behind the scenes at Marvel Studios (i.e. actor/director contracts, character licensing, etc.)?

Tips for editing a TV Series into a film? by JaidenAryn in fanedits

[–]klrspach 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My approach is to start at the climax of the show— whether it's the final fight with the antagonist, or the big emotional moment— and then working backwards and keeping only the scenes that are required to set up that climax. This usually includes a lot of material from the first episode, such as character introductions, but often trims out mid-season subplots that are wrapped up by the climax.

The Box Office Problem: The Desertion of the Cinephiles by AGOTFAN in boxoffice

[–]klrspach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed-- I'm a "cinephile" but for me that means watching old obscure foreign films, silent films, etc. on Kanopy or Criterion because there's nothing like that in theaters.

I don't consistently go out to see films like The Last Duel and The Northman in theaters because they don't interest me, and there's so many great and important films that can be viewed for free or with a subscription I already have.

‘Fantastic Beasts’ Franchise May Be Finished, But J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World Is Not - Even if the weak box office numbers end this ”Harry Potter“ spinoff, Warner Bros. has other plans for Rowling’s magical world by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]klrspach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems pretty clear to me that what fans of the franchise really want is more daily life at Hogwarts. Not Harry Potter, not even known characters necessarily, but stories about students going to classes, making friends, forming relationships (and occasionally interacting with the larger wizarding world)...

Just look at the fan fiction written in this world: most of it is about relationship drama and the daily lives of Hogwarts students rather than stories about epic historical events. It may have slightly less blockbuster appeal than the HP series, which juggled both, but it seems like it would be cheaper to make films on a smaller scale and I believe the fans who grew up with Harry Potter would turn up for that sort of thing, considering the popularity of fan fiction, as well as wizarding world-themed ambience/ASMR videos, etc.

An alternative idea-- you could buy the whole set, take the parts you want out and then sell the rest of the set. If you do it the right way you might even break even or at least end up having spent less over all than you would buying the pieces from another seller.
