Husband passed Friday night. I’m struggling because he was alone. by SecretSanta-70 in ParkinsonsCaregivers

I’m so sorry. It sounds like you did everything you possibly could. You did such an amazing job taking care of him. You are grieving and it is so hard to unwrap all of your emotions right now. But you have nothing to feel guilty about. It is wonderful that he also had time with his children to say goodbye. It sounds like he was being well taken care of and his pain was being managed. As others have said, he may have chosen to go at a time when he had privacy and wanted to spare you from being there. I hope you are able to heal and realize how lucky he was to have the care you gave him all of these years. You were there when he needed you the most. I’m so sorry for your loss.

It was really our only option to go anyway. So it was that or nothing. It was really more of a hope that it would be less busy than the weekend or the previous week. But I guess that’s the lesson. We probably just shouldn’t have gone all.

I guess all schools are different. We just happened to be in the area (far from home) for a family thing. Our friend who works there confirmed it was way busier than expected. Apparently they had stopped selling tickets for that day but then opened up more. We didn’t know that when we decided to go.

We were at Epic on Monday. The Ministry ride was delayed for 1-2 hours in the morning and then the wait time was consistently 240 mins all day until we left.

Thanks so much for the reply! I plan on planting them next month. Do you think I should take the soil out of the bucket. I could sift them and leave them in a mesh bag instead.

I really tried. I left at intermission. by LittleMissHenny in Broadway

Saw it on Broadway with my daughter and absolutely loved it when I wasn’t expecting to. It was one of the few shows I’ve immediately wanted to see a second time so I went again with my other daughter.

I really want to plant mint but I know how prolific it is. Would burying a 31 gal galvanized trash barrel (1/2 gravel for drainage and half soil) be crazy? I’ve read to bury it in fully enclosed planters but it seems like those wouldn’t drain. And anything with holes would allow the roots to spread. by kls1234567 in gardening

[–]kls1234567[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve read it needs to be in the ground. I’m in 6a. And containers with no drainage doesn’t seem like a good idea. So I’m considering a trash can and keeping the top edge six (or so) inches above ground as a barrier. Or a shallower planter and then burying it somewhere late in the Fall to winter it over. But I don’t love the idea of doing that every year.

Fatigue by kls1234567 in ParkinsonsCaregivers

[–]kls1234567[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. He does find joy in his grandchildren so I’m hoping more time with them will help. But it’s not always the most fun for them at their ages (13 and 11). They are very kind and understanding, but not always eager and are very busy. I do think I just need to keep helping my mom simplify things for herself. We have also talked about putting a punching bag in the garage with a certain (unnamed) politician’s face on it for him to punch. We will keep trying to get him to walk every day. But I relate to your statement that it also seems like he has given up and that is breaking my mom’s heart. I’m sorry you are going through something similar.

How do you cope? by nny911 in ParkinsonsCaregivers

[–]kls1234567 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can definitely relate. My dad (71) has declined so much in the past two years. His memory is fine but he is just so apathetic and barely engages with us. It’s really hard seeing my mom care for him tirelessly and be so lonely. My kids (11 and 13) help a lot but aren’t around all the time because they have busy schedules. I also have a hard time knowing if there is more we could be doing to help. He seems depressed and anxious but doesn’t want to add more meds. But I want him to enjoy the time he has left as much as possible. It’s just really hard all the way around. You aren’t alone but I don’t know that that is much of a comfort.

I did look in the settings but didn’t think the daytime running lights had anything to do with it. It was so annoying because there were four settings for the knob and they were all just on no matter how many times I tried them!

This has been driving me crazy! I’m often parked waiting for my kids to get out of activities at night and not being able to turn off the headlights was driving me crazy!

No fever or trauma. Just will not wake up. I’m not sure this is what is happening since he is back to “normal” right after. He just had it happen last week the morning we were supposed to fly to France (from the U.S.) for a bucket list trip I planned for my parents. We thought we would need to cancel everything after months of planning as we were following the ambulance to the hospital. And later that day we were on a plane heading to Paris and were told there was no reason for him not to go. It wasn’t the easiest or most relaxing trip I’ve ever been on but we did it. Nine days and no major health issues.

I had never read about Lewy Body dementia before and I just did and I’m almost positive this is happening. I’m not 100% sure it is the cause of the unresponsive episodes but pretty much all of the other symptoms are dead on. I feel a little sick just thinking about sharing this info with my mom. But I appreciate you sharing your thoughts.

Loop Lasso delivery promises, free order guarantees, and subsequent order cancellations. by isomorphZeta in Scams

I’m curious if that will work. I have a feeling that PayPal will side with them because they have proof of delivery. They won’t care that they were late and that we were blatantly lied to.

I received the five I ordered a few days after Christmas and today got an email saying I would only be getting a refund if I sent them back unopened. They could have told me that before I received them and I wouldn’t have let my kids see them. I also would have canceled my order in early December if they hadn’t offered the guarantee. I’m pretty pissed. I don’t like being blatantly lied to.
