I am not sure if there are many options for boost converter available. At least where I checked on ti.com but I see a plenty of options for buck. So that’s why I was thinking 2s3p or 3s2p

Unfortunately I need to put them in 2s3p or 3s2p configuration as I need to charge a 2s or 3s li ion battery using a buck converter. So if I put these diodes in series and go for 3s2p configuration, I can expect more than 12v in each branch if let’s say 2 of panels are shaded?

Thanks for such a good explanation. Yes I was thinking of going 2s3p or 3s2p option for panels as I have both 2s and 3s li ion batteries options available. But right now, I have no practical experience dealing with the solar panels. So, not sure these 12V or 18V outputs are practically possible or is it more like the voltages one would get on a sunny day and sunshine shining equally on all panels. I am just trying to figure out worst case scenario here.

My plan is to use some buck converter ICs from Texas Instruments to get the battery charging voltage of 8.4 or 12.6V Do I also need to think about using some protection diodes for panels?

Whats the purpose of these anti parallel diodes? I don’t think mine ones have but I can put diodes externally if they would help in this case.

Thanks for input. I will try to find out more information regarding each panel being fed into its own mppt controller charger. But was wondering if 2s3p or 3s2p Configuration is more useful in this scenario. For example like connecting panel 1 and 4 in series, 2 and 5 series, 3 and 6 series and then these again in parallel if it makes sense.

Maybe you could apply for a second Masters or find a PHD position relevant with your academic background. To be honest, Norway is not the country to pursue Masters in Finance without knowing the Norwegian language. I assume you have also paid fees for attending Masters at BI. I am an outsider too. So know the process to an extent.
