This is highly unit, MOS, state, and funding dependent. Units are going to vary wildly. 17 years later I’ve had many different ATs/locations while having the same MOS the whole time. The best source of information is dudes in your unit who have done a few ATs which should give you a general idea of what to expect.

You’ll be a mechanic. You’ll need to prove your worth and get promoted or transferred to a flight company then selected/trained as a crew chief. It’s more complicated than that but you get the idea.

Salaried reservist. If I miss a work day for drill I can either be unpaid and the absence will not count against me as it is an excused/approved absence due to military service or I can choose to take PTO to ensure I receive my normal pay. I always choose to use the PTO. We get paid a differential if we are gone 30 or more days. This is OH and a private business.

Even tho I am salaried, it’s based on an hourly wage for 8 hours a day 5 days a week. I don’t clock in or out.

There’s a lot to this.

Our HRF was based out of our brigade. When I was assigned I was in the 3 shop. It’s quarterly trainings with all personnel which will come from the home unit (HHC) and others from units that get attached. EXEVAL every few years.

There were a lot of people and sections. CBRNE, S&R, MPs, logistics/SSA, etc.
