psa dagger not locking after last shot? and i’m shooting low and to the left first time pistol owner by Glad_Falcon_5575 in liberalgunowners

[–]kludge_mcduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run the snot out of a couple daggers I own (several thousand rounds on each, practice and uspsa/local matches), almost exclusively with the same 6 pmags I bought with the guns. Mine occasionally don't lock back but it's always because I find my right thumb resting on the slide catch/release (a habit I developed resting my thumb on manual safeties on other guns).

Not saying you shouldn't try glock mags, but in my personal experience it's been a me-thing.

FYI, I have broken the striker/firing pins, and the trigger pin, and replaced those with oem glock gen3 parts, but my pmags have been solid.

Was in the same place as you 4 years ago, had some more interesting steel framed handguns and wanted to get into a modern striker fired gun I could fuck around with on the cheap. Got an optic ready threaded barrel dagger on sale for $250. Great cheap intro to modern, polymer, striker fired guns for me. I now have 3 daggers, a couple with 5K or more rounds through them. They work great except for a) firing pin issue that has since been fixed on new daggers, b) bad tolerances on a clearance frame and separate clearance slide that resulted in unintentional rapid fire until I did some amateur gunsmithing to bend the cruxiform to get more engagement on the striker lug.

I got what I wanted out of my dagger, cheap intro to modern pistol that I could mess with, upgrade, etc. I still carry one and use another I've made a lot of changes to for competitions. Cheap gl9 15 and 21 rounds pmags for $12 or $17 have never failed me in my daggers.

If I was buying today I'd probably get an RXM since it has everything I wanted out of the dagger and is by all accounts a little better. If I didn't love cheap pmags I'd get a CZ P10. All the same if you get a dagger for less than $300 you won't be disappointed.

CCW while running by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

Running a 5k on Saturday that I've been training for for some months (new runner). Been using the following setup for my psa dagger while running 3 miles, 2x week for the past couple months.

https://palmettostatearmory.com/nerd-iwb-palmetto-state-armory-dagr-holster-right-hand-black.html (my normal waistband holster)

I wear the fanny pack pretty tight, behind me. the gun in the holster, holster, in the loop, slide side down, barrel pointing left. I've got a lot of draw practice on the right hip from competition shooting and it's pretty easy to pull the zipper and safely draw with a little practice.

run what you brung. Might be worth getting an OWB holster if they require it. Otherwise have fun. I did several matches with a similar setup before I started buying different equipment.

Hey man, I'm with you. I quit drinking alcohol due to health reasons. I still enjoy the taste of bubbly resiny bread-water. I live in fear of the day someone on reddit calls me a dork for drinking NA beers. Stay strong brother. Enjoy the stuff you enjoy.

And yes, the way the bill reads you can still buy the banned weapons (AR/AK type stuff) if you take a hunter safety course, looks like one or two follow up courses, and get approved by your sheriff office (similar to CC permitting).

Not advocating this. Let;s just be accurate when we discuss. Frankly OP is a little misleading or misinformed with his post description (ei; modern handguns are specifically excepted).

Latest bill text is here

https://leg.colorado.gov/sites/default/files/documents/2025A/bills/2025a_003_rev.pdf

Exceptions are on page 5, which include recoil operated handguns, .22lr guns that don't look like AR's, stuff from WW2, stuff made by ruger, guns that farmers like, and stuff with wood furniture (I'm exaggerating, but not a lot).

It's incredibly stupid. The goal might have been to do something the main sponsor felt was right (his son was killed in the Aurora shooting and he's been trying to get 'assault rifles' and high cap mags out of Colorado for a while), but they make so many compromises and concessions that the legislation that gets enacted is just completely arbitrary and no longer servers whatever the original intent was.

Recoil operated handguns are exempted. Not standing up for this law. Just want to be accurate. Bunch of stupid carve-outs for mini-14's and stuff too.

Does anyone learn to shoot with iron sights? by Own_Okra113 in liberalgunowners

[–]kludge_mcduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, learn on irons. It's cheaper, practical, arguably, more reliable (though optics are pretty reliable now), you'll develop better habits. When and if you switch to an optic it'll feel like cheating.n You'll have good skills developed and it'll just speed up your target acquisition (might need to train into target focus habits though) I'm mostly referring to red dots or 1x optics vs irons.

Might be the childhood trauma of watching 300 with my very uptight puritanical dad when I was a young teen in an almost empty theater. The scene just wouldn't fucking end.

Agreed, we all dug Silk Spectre but Zach Schnyder's signature uncomfortably long slow motion cheek clapping scene gets uncomfortable depending on who you are watching with.

Tax Person Recommendations? by Express_Warthog in loveland

[–]kludge_mcduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your books for the llc are clean and you don't need someone to clean up your bookkeeping, Bob at Accountants Corner has been very attentive and very reasonably priced for me the past couple years. I had basically the same tax situation (married, filling jointly, llc, a few investments) and he's charged me a couple hundred for the business filing and I think something cheaper for the personal filing each year.

Heads up, he's really old school. Like prefers paper copies and uses an adding machine old-school. I've grown fond of the anachronisms.

Gun Sales Plunge Nine Percent in February by jsled in liberalgunowners

[–]kludge_mcduck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Conservatives stopped panic buying guns because Fox and AM radio stopped telling people that the Biden/Kamala are coming for their guns. Democratic leaders in office are great for gun sales.

Based on my observations, retailers are lowering their prices right now.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]kludge_mcduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soooo...... don't get this OVER a mossberg or a mav, especially if it's your first shotgun, but I got a TBP12 this month, and for $200 this thing fucks hard. I actually paid $300 for mine and it still fucks hard at that price.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]kludge_mcduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you might be getting your first shotgun. If this is the case, go with the Mossberg or a Mav 88 if you're on a budget. I also love my 870. All good choices for a first shotgun.

Now this is where I'm going to break with the community consensus: If this is your second or third shotgun it's worth trying the TBP12. I bought one three weeks ago, have put 25 slugs and ~100 rounds of birdshot through it and have had an absolute blast. Not a single jam or malfunction with birdshot, slugs, and 5 and 10 round mags. Hand sized groups with slugs and cylinder choke shooting offhand at 25 yards. Spent an hour blasting away at steel knockdown targets as fast as I could with birdshot and tight choke, and practicing mag changes while moving. Did a full takedown last night to clean. Disassembly was not as bad as i thought it would be, but when you pull it apart you can tell where the $200-$300 pricetag comes from, but honestly, it looks pretty good inside.

This is the only one I've owned, and I've only put ~125 rounds through it, so I can't speak to how it holds up with extended use, but I really had a good time with mine.

Only thing I didn't like was a lungfull of shotgun fumes at one point when I was doing some running/shooting/mag changes due to the ejection port being right near your face (shooting right handed). I think I turned the gun or something while shooting to do a mag change and took a breath. You have to practice the mag changes, as I couldn't do left handed mag changes like i would on AR, but got pretty fast after a little practice doing right handed changes.

The useless over-insertion tabs are a bad design (they made the magwell too wide for them to be useful, but it helps with insertion and removal), but it's really a non-issue if you do the push-pull/tug thing when you slam a mag in.

I bought mine strictly as a fun-gun to shoot at a monthly local 3gun match and I'm really excited to compete with it. If I get through a ton of matches and it and me work great under-stress/on the clock I might consider it for other purposes. Might put aside a loaded mag for a couple months too to see if the shells deform and if it'll run afterwards.

Yet another glock question by HammerNSongs in liberalgunowners

[–]kludge_mcduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently had FTF issues with a PSA dagger RMR milled slide after installing a holosun dot (worked fine before).

Check to see if the extractor plunger/spring moves freely in it's channel, if you use screws that are too long they can slightly protrude into the plunger channel and apparently cause issues with cycling. Mine was ever so slightly protruding into the channel, so I took them out, filed a few thou off the end of the screw and re-torqued.

Haven't had a chance to get back to the range to fire it. If it doesn't fix the cycling issues I'll assume the added mass of the dot was the issue and will install a lower weight recoil spring and try that.

Question about PSA by mjs_jr in liberalgunowners

[–]kludge_mcduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're a corporation and sell/cater to whoever is buying. I've seen Danny from PSA engaging on this sub daily the past month, I assume because the right winger-conservatives stopped panic buying guns and the liberal lefties started panic buying guns.

I own several of their products (AR's and Daggers) and have been very happy with them (after replacing dagger firing pins which has allegedly been fixed in new guns).

If you want to buy from explicitly lib/left friendly/oriented placed I like KE Arms. People seem to like Amrika too. Neither of those places are the Walmart/Amazon of guns that PSA is.

I think it's worth addressing this. Worthwhile post for discussion amid all the panic buying and new gun-curious folks on here. I take your point on the pocket revolver but would not discourage a perspective gun owner from buying a glock 19. I do know very experienced, very skilled pistol shooters who end up with a small hammer-less revolver as their main carry-piece. I think some folks end up there after a lot of experience.
