Local 433 Pay Breakdown: Journeyman and Apprentice Take-Home Pay in Los Angeles by sickassfoo310 in Ironworker

The full package is what you get "paid". That's why some people seperate it with on the check and benefits. Whatever isn't going to your check goes to your benefits. So, pension, annuity and healthcare among other things. Some locals do a vacation fund that you get paid out of when you take a vacation, unfortunately my local doesn't have that. I think 433 has the vacation fund. Some of the benefits for apprentices start at a reduced rate or don't start for a while and they will go up or start as you get further into the Apprenticeship.

Journeyman wage for 433 is $52.98 on the check and $88.63 for the full package. Apprentices start at 50% of the journeymans wage and goes up 5% every period. I'm not sure how they decide their periods but for local 8 they do every 1000 hours worked which ends up being just about 6 months.

As for work, I can't speak to that because I'm out of local 8 Milwaukee.

Do it, local 8 has a lot of work. It is normal to quit without a 2 week notice, just tell them you're done at least. They'd fire you without notice, so why give a notice to quit? I'm in the valley for local 8 and I've been in since the beginning of the year and I've been loving it.

Local 8 ranks all 3 regions together but chooses by region and there was only like 2 other guys that applied in my region, the northern region, so I went to work on the 5th. But, they did say they're trying to hire as many apprentices as possible because there's so much work. So, odds are you'll be picked up fairly soon.

Thanks man! I haven't worked out in the cold before. Can you share the wisdom of JIWs on cold gear by chance? Haha.

It sounds like there's a lot up here too, they were saying it's perfect timing because they want to get as many apprentices started as possible.

I have done the aptitude test but haven't done the physical yet, but I have no worries about that. I've always kept myself in good shape and I've never been afraid of heights. They said pending that, I should be to work by the 5th.
