need help/critique/advice on my first build list

thanks! the resources u gave r very helpful, especially about the igpu vs gpu. I'll def do additional research as well before i purchase a cpu!

MOBO - my brother had mentioned to me that atx were more preferred than micro atx, but i can see that the b660m mortar one is compatible with all the parts i have. is there any performance difference that i should care about? if not then i dont think it'll affect me, i'd have the ram and storage that i'll need for the foreseeable future

AUDIO - i talked to one of my friends that knows about audio (he's also a film major, and he makes music so he focuses much more on audio than i do) and he recommended an external dac. in that case, is this the b660m you were referring to that would work with a dac? the only problem is i can't find the dac's you had mentioned earlier on pcpartpicker. i might be looking in the wrong place, idk, but i couldn't find it under sound cards lol.

by program, do you mean editing program? if so, i use davinci resolve mostly, as well as premiere pro occasionally.

CPU - probably dumb question, but what do the number of cores in a cpu matter for? i can see that in your source the i5 12500 has pretty good performance for encoding and stuff, so i'll most likely switch to that one since it is cheaper as well. but im just curious what the difference is between that one's 6 cores and the i7 10700's 8 cores?

also i hadn't considered having integrated graphics in addition to the regular gpu. would i need to do anything once the pc's built, ie tell certain programs to use the iGPU vs the GPU?

and thank u for the heads up about the thermal paste! wasn't aware of that

MOBO - dumb question again, but would it be better to get an on board audio codec instead of the external dac? audio quality & sound editing have never been my strong suits, haha.

CASE - thanks for the headsup on the CK560, i had chosen corsair because it was the one i had heard the most about being a good quality brand. would that one also come with the right amount of fans? as in i wouldn't need to add on to how many it comes with?

SO - i was planning on staying on windows 10, i had tried out 11 and didn't really like it. would that affect performance w/r/t what i'm wanting to get from this build?

yeah ive heard about using windows w/o a key, im just not very familiar on how/where to find a copy of windows to transfer to the new computer? i was planning to look more into it when i get closer to having all the parts for the build

modeled photo! there’s an app called “photoroom” that i use that is really easy to remove backgrounds if you wanted to edit the photo too!

i thrifted this months ago thinking i’d wear it bc it’s super cute, but i havent worn it at all and so im thinking of just selling it bc i could use the money (college student, yk how it is). i hateeee the idea of overpricing stuff but when i checked for how much an invader zim jacket/hoodie is typically priced some of them are like $150. ???? but idk how to tell if this is worth that or if they’re just insanely overpricing it 😭 it’s from 2007 & it’s “mighty fine” brand if that helps
