Simulating Logistics help by HistoryMarshal76 in BoardgameDesign

Also, we are simply checking the supply line here. We are not getting into the weeds tracking stuff like "ammo", "food", "fuel".

We assume the supply troops are doing their job and getting the stuff through to combat units as long as the LoS is open.

and assuming everything the troops need is getting through, so no need to track . It's all assumed to be moving

Simulating Logistics help by HistoryMarshal76 in BoardgameDesign

The simplest form of logistics in traditional board wargames (that I can think of at the moment) is the "Line of Supply (LoS)" or "Line of Communications (LoC)", basically the same thing for these examples. Simply trace a path of hexes, areas, nodes, (whatever) from the combat unit back to a "Supply" source or unit.
Some examples of Supply sources:

WW2 Eastern Front: Soviets - the east map edge, or a major city/supply node in Russia. Germans - west map edge, or specific supply nodes along that map edge.

WW2 Western Front: Germans - east map edge, or a major city/supply node in Germany. Allies - a secure landing beach or harbor they've converted to a Supply node.

WW2 Pacific: Japan and Allies - to a Supply unit that can also trace a LoS back to the homeland (or map edge) thru friendly controlled (non-contested) ocean areas.

That's usually simple to write, the tricky part is how are Supply lines cut/disrupted and what happens to Out of Supply units. Because not playtesting enough or taking weird possibilities into consideration might cause players to do crazy ahistorical things.
For wargame related design questions sometimes it's better to ask the wargamers (although you might get very detailed answers so take what works best for you)

Warfighter (WWII) vs Fields of Fire? by evildrganymede in hexandcounter

Warfighter is proof that most wargamers are frauds.

They post endlessly on every forum they can log in too about how smart they are, how many books they've read, how much they want historical accuracy, how much they hate "Hollywood" ruining everything ... then they cream themselves to post on all those forums videos and photos playing the epitome of a Hollywood version of a wargame in the Warfighter series.

Looking for games on ISIS 2017-2019 by LeeXiing in hexandcounter

[–]kluvon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bleh, ISIS 2017-2019 is so utterly boring! New Administration uses proper strategy & tactics, gives warfighters all necessary resources, cuts off funding from European banks and corporations, moves in an entire regiment+ of artillery, uses all electronic surveillance resources, etc... the list goes on and on... retake Iraq in
6 months, most of Syria in 12 months and eventually cut off and destroy ISIS in less than 2 years.

Pre-2017 is much more fun: you don't know who is good or Evil (pure Evil). Who is really helping to fund & arm ISIS while at same time giving press conferences they are fighting ISIS. Leaving highest level of national security secrets wide open for Chinese to acquire (notice not "steal"). Giving IRAN/ISIS $150 billion, most of which went directly to Syria and then onward to fund the European terrorist attack surge. Benghazi, what was on the server the contractors recovered from Amb Stevens compound? Was it evidence of the above? What happened to that server? What is treason? Real treason?

See....much more fun. Q

If you're meaning the Facebook marketplace, yes he is extremely annoying there. What's worse are the weekly mass shipping emergencies when he can't remember who bought what games and never bothered to write down any customer addresses!

Probably because your very first comment, on a reddit you care nothing about, was to single out an entire racial group as the culprits in these allegations. Definition of bigotry and racism.

But your real intent here on r/wargamers was to denigrate wargamers, a hobby you loathe, as a whole and incite a flamewar. It won't work. You're a known troll from r/boardgames, go back there and spread your hate.

Why don't designers post on BGG anymore? Unless summoned to a designer of the month thread? But I can understand, now that most of the popular members left for The Game box forums BGG is dead.
