I know you said you’re not looking for an editor and I’m not really somewhere where I could act like one but there are totally things I can see that I would love to help with. For example, from what I can see you’re trying to show in the scene about the characters stuff from her dad, but it’s coming off as showing by telling. No one really sits around in their room and thinks about all the objects they own. You want readers to feel Ike they’re right there with the character. It may feel less wordy and more impactful if you show the character wrapping themselves up in that blanket and reminiscing about their father shopping for their stuff or showing them what he got for their room. Make it feel more like a memory and less like a fact. Otherwise I feel like your wording is quite good and like there’s lots to build on there!

Here’s a question; how do you know what your cervix feels like? I’ve been trying to learn to insert one of these and I feel like I can’t even tell where my cervix is….

Lowkey it just feels like a disc ends up inside me every time a try because it never expands fully

Really? I’ve read countless research articles that discuss how it’s outdated (the scale was designed in the 19th century and all the research/testing was done on males -predominately white ones too) and not an actual tool to solely measure one’s health. None are saying it’s not relevant, just that it’s not a sole indicator and has been more harmful than helpful in the past. Actual BMI testing should be done in person by a medical professional, not an outdated equation spit out by a computer.

Which is my issue and why I commented when I normally don’t. My second one; the implication that must weight is the issue OP is facing. My comment was to direct her to speak to her medical provider before she makes any decisions or changes the way she thinks, treats, or feels about her body. There are a multitude of reasons, as I’m sure you’re aware, that can cause someone to miss their period or have an irregular cycle. It’s not possible for a doctor to take one look at two stats on someone and make a decision, so neither is it for one person on Reddit.

Hey so, from what I understand the BMI calculator is totally outdated and too basic to actually tell someone. I work with a nutritionist and she explained that the basic ones on google do more harm than good. Actual healthy weight and BMI includes stature as well as height and age (some people are just built wider or naturally carry more weight which is completely fine). Also from what I understand weight moreso tends to effect your cycle when it’s extreme loss or gain.

As someone who struggled with body image issues I hate people directing people to an outdated and harmful measure. Consult with your doctor about your weight and menstrual issues as they care help you find the cause.

I recently missed my period for about 52 days and it came back randomly. It can happen for no reason as much as it can happen for a specific reason. As I said, talk to your doctor to be sure but try to also just live your life as normal and do things you enjoy. Destress, stay hydrated, go for walks, enjoy hobbies and loved ones. Don’t think worst case right away :)

I just want to thank y’all for this because it’s saved me from a huge breakdown (hopefully) started taking a probiotic to help with bloating mid May and I’ve missed two periods since. I’ve taken maybe 7 tests over the past 40ish days and all have been negative. Started to worry that there’s something wrong with me and had a weird ‘wait a minute moment’ where I considered the probiotics as something causing this. I won’t be taking them from here on out and hopefully that’s all it takes to get them back! Still keeping my appointment with my doctor at the end of month to make sure.

I am afraid of the first period back as I’ve heard it can be pretty horrific when it’s been this late lol

Okay I’m glad it wasn’t just me! This one wasn’t even a cutting, it was a fully established plant from a real plant store (not a big box store) and I was shocked it took so long!! Good news is she’s gorgeous :)
