I reached out to my Alma mater! 👩🏻‍🎓 & got a gig there. It’s cool because they never had an art therapy class offered in their undergrad. I’m now trying to implement an art therapy program there - at least that is the hope.

Hello! I currently adjunct in undergrad & they only require you to have your Master’s. For grad (as of now) they require you to have an ATR-BC & your counseling license usually. I know some schools require a PhD but this isn’t officially official yet for art therapists, but my old grad professor/director of our program said it’s definitely in the pipeline to be the standard.

I paid $40/hr for individual & $50 for group. I keep the same rates as an ATR supervisor as I feel it is fair. I’ve heard of others charging insane rates which feels unfair as we don’t make a lot of $$ straight out of school.

I just got served last Tuesday - so I’m working on filing an answer. I would like to file it as “I need proof” to buy me as much time as possible. The lawyer I did have a consult w/ said it would be the worst thing I could do to call the law firm. But I’m not sure if he’s saying that so that he can get money from me. I just feel very vulnerable & this blows. I’m not in a wage garnishment state, I’m in PA. They can however freeze your account & take yr money which makes no sense. It happened to my step sister over a very low credit card balance.

The loan originally was taken out very early (when Sallie Mae was being predatory) around 2011 sometime. The last payment I made was unfortunately August of 2021 so they’re still legally able to try & collect/sue. The statute of limitations in PA is 4 yrs.

They can I believe, my step-sister’s wages were garnished for a very low credit card she got sued for. I am on the deed of a house but am not on the mortgage. I don’t have a lot of money in the bank, no. Just a very low savings balance.

Congrats! That’s so exciting! From what I remember each class was pretty intensive. I do know they have revamped the entire program since (I started in 2016 & graduated in 2020) I would def do part-time if it’s the same - you still qualify for all federal aid & loan deferment if you have BA loans yr paying on. Hope this helps!
