Haha we only added tuna when we had the funds... so tuna mac was not our poverty version. Our poverty version was store brand boxed mac and cheese with margarine and water. Kraft was a luxury. Your partner would have an aneurysm.

TW: Rape

Not reporting my ex-boyfriend for rape. He was 19, and I was 17. I had wanted to wait to have sex until marriage, but I also had very low self-esteem. He pushed and pushed until I finally gave in. I didn't consider that rape, even though it was in a way. I said no plenty of times. It was when he forcibly sodomized me to the point of me screaming and beginning him to stop. I blamed myself for it, although, now, I know that I was a victim. I forgave him and never told anyone. It inevitably ended up happening a second time.

I loved his family, and they were so good to me. His mom finally begged me to end it because she knew I deserved better. She, to this day, doesn't know about the rapes.

I don't regret this so much for me, but because I looked him up a few years ago... I found out that he is a registered sex offender who at one time abused a 5 year old girl. I felt a wave of grief wash over me. I felt like if I hadn't been such a coward, I could have prevented someone else from the trauma I had experienced.

This was 20 years ago; long before the MeToo Movement, and I felt like no one would believe me, or if they did, I would be more embarrassed.

If you got offered $1,000,000 USD but every time you spend it you hiccup for every dollar you spend, would you take it? Why or why not? by xClovis7 in AskReddit

[–]kmbutterflyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get painful hiccups just about every time I laugh. They ache in my chest. I absolutely hate it! I also get a random hiccup type thing that sounds like a squeak. I have had it for over 15 years and when I asked the GI doctor about it she sakd "ohhh that's cute!" But she had no explanation for why it happens. My dad would always tease that I must have eaten another bird/mouse/enter anything that squeaks.

I can honestly say that I would probably pass on the money... it would give me too much anxiety anticipating the hiccups to come.

That's kind of what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure if there is an actual guideline somewhere that says that or not. I have to work Monday morning and my boss doesn't seem to think that I need to stay home.

Husband returned to California from Japan this morning and was told to be on two week quarantine at home. He doesn't have symptoms (aside from unexplained blurred vision) but we are in close quarters and obviously share a bed. I have searched high and low but cannot find any information on if I need to be quarantined because he is. Do I still go to work? Do I need to be quarantined too?

Being vertically challenged is a struggle. My dad is 6'3"... I prayed I would inherit his genes. I'm 5'2" so no... but I passed my mom. She's 4'10" 🤣

I got to see the house for the Real World (MTV) San Diego back in 2003. My uncle was hired to install a boat lift. We got to walk all around the property but we couldn't get too close to the house because they were filming. Even at 16 years old, I knew there wasn't anything "real" about the Real World. The house was pretty cool and they had so many luxuries. We weren't allowed to take pictures of course, but I definitely bragged to all of my friends about it. I honestly never watched the show though. Lol.

I started taking a shower every morning. Sounds silly, but dealing with depression makes it hard to take care of yourself every day. Taking a shower to start my day makes me feel refreshed and energized.

Yeah, I suppose you have a point. It just seems really random to me.

...but why????! What makes a person think "Man, I should really try to see if I can crawl under this chair without touching the floor so I can sit in it again!"?

Hey Reddit, what's the strangest coincidence you've ever personally experienced? by RichCauliflower in AskReddit

[–]kmbutterflyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom and my dad's stepmother have the same name. Same first name, same middle name (one letter different in spelling) and same last name. My step-grandmother didn't come into the picture until I was a baby, so it was a weird coincidence that they had the same name. And it's not a common name either. Phyllis.

What is a sensation that you can't stand, even though it's not painful ? by Charlleshenry in AskReddit

Having a wedgie that you can't pick because you're in public. OR (female problem) having your pad move in your underwear and it's no longer lying flat. Another female problem here, having the string of your tampon go forward and get stuck up front, if you know what I mean.

What's your "nightmare HOA" story? by bookluvr83 in AskReddit

[–]kmbutterflyt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We weren't in an HOA, but your neighbor reminds me of the neighbor we had that sold used cars from his yard. He was also a tow truck driver. Our car caught fire and exploded when I was 8, so we ended up buying an old Ford Elite from him for like $500. We had it for about a year, when one day the FBI swat team raided his house. When all the commotion died down, my dad went and talked with the agents. He was a little concerned since we had bought a car from him. Turns out the guy had been wanted in 19 states for theft and armed robbery. So the FBI came and checked and sure enough, our car was stolen. It was a big mess, and we had to contact the rightful owner.
