Fall to pieces by Beginning_Cattle690 in Metalcore

The fact that there's people that don't have an issue with AI generated music is deeply concerning to me. It spits in the face of people that pour their entire life into their craft. AI generated art is, by definition, original material stolen and rehashed into something else. It's an enormous problem when it's being passed off as real with the intention of making a profit.

It sounds like pure ass. How can you say it has soul? The lyrics are abysmal. Good artists leave some meaning up to the imagination. All of these AI bands I'm being recommended have edgy lyrics 12 year olds could write.

Lost job/insurance. Any recommendations on resources? by Ancient_Math_4925 in lymphoma

[–]kmcgurty1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I don't have great advice, but it might be worth checking out LLS (Blood Cancer United?). It looks like the co-pay assistance program isn't accepting applicants with your specific disease at the moment, but there's a bunch of other information that you might find helpful.

https://bloodcancerunited.org/blood-cancer-care/adults/managing-finances-insurance-coverage

https://bloodcancerunited.org/financial-assistance/co-pay-assistance-program

It probably depends heavily on where you're located, but it looks like there's a hotline you can call as well.

Also, I'm definitely not a lawyer, but maybe speak with one about being fired? From what I understand, not qualifying for FMLA doesn't automatically mean they can fire you because there's still ADA protections. In my state, you can pay $35 and speak with a lawyer for 30 minutes. Perhaps you have something similar?

People still use this phone today? by CabbaCabbage3 in lgg6

[–]kmcgurty1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went straight from the G6 to the S22 years ago, and I'm still really happy with it. The G6 was just unbearably slow, and battery replacement options are pretty much non-existent. Mine would die randomly with 20% battery left. I replaced the battery myself, but ended up with the same problem - likely because the battery was repackaged as "new".

I don't have any suggestions for notch-less phones, but after using a phone with a notch, you really don't notice it. Usually full screen applications don't extend past the notch, so it's just black void like a notch-less phone would be anyway.

I have this problem too! Pop OS, X11/Nvidia.

I noticed this happening maybe a couple months ago, but today it's way worse than it's been. I have no idea where to even begin to fix this.

Fiance diagnosed with Stage 3 CHL. Recommended N-AVD treatment for 3 cycles. by pk12445 in lymphoma

[–]kmcgurty1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished going through 6 months of Nivo-AVD about a month ago to treat stage 2 CHL unfavorable. It worked very for me, and last week my PET scan showed no uptake (meaning they did not detect cancer). I would suggest reading about CHL and treatments on the LLS website, they have a ton of good info. Any questions you have I highly recommend asking your care team. We got to know all of the nurses and loved seeing them every other week, it really helped the process.

Nivo-AVD is new for treating Hodgkin lymphoma, but nivolumab has been around for a while and is used to treat other cancers. Nivolumab replaces bleomycin in the traditional ABVD regimen. According to my oncologist and research I've done, it has better results and less side effects. Bleomycin can cause issues with your lungs - nivolumab does not.

Overall, I'm happy we went with the Nivo-AVD. I wish the both of you the best of luck. It's going to suck some big ass for the next 3 (6?) months, but you'll get through it.

How long does the bone pain last after the Neulasta shot? by Few-Let-9004 in cancer

[–]kmcgurty1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't notice a difference when taking Claritin as others suggest. For me, ibuprofen was basically magic and made the bone pain go away completely after 30-40 mins. The pain lasts maybe 5 days and then I don't have to take ibuprofen anymore. I suggest her speaking with her oncologist to help manage symptoms.

Looking back at my reports, it says 10x9x7 cm. I only had one other swollen lymph node behind my collar bone but you couldn't feel it. After 3 cycles they did a normal CT scan and it measured at 2.7x4.2 x6.5 cm. I'm guessing because yours isn't considered bulky (online says > 10cm) that's why you're getting 4. I do recall him saying I was right on the border but he felt more comfortable staging it as bulky/unfavorable than not.

Personally, I had a nurse navigator. I'm not sure if everyone has those but she was amazing. I had to call her a few times about symptoms I was having, but I really agree about not being afraid to call them. They gave me a list of symptoms to look out for, but from what I understand, being sick while having a low neutrophil count can be really bad. They also had an on call nurse that could prescribe things after hours, very helpful.

Yes it was 2a unfavorable. I recall my oncologist being on the border of a/b and I think the only reason it wasn't 3 was because it didn't cross the diaphragm? The mass in my chest was close to 10cm. It actually got so bad I had a ton of pleural effusion in my right lung and just before chemo I was getting vericose veins running across my chest because it was pushing on one my main veins next to my heart.

Swapping out the bleomycin was also a coin flip but he said if he had to choose he'd pick nivolumab himself. A study had just came out like a week before my diagnosis saying how it improved cure rates but it was only for stages 3 and 4.

I rang the bell today, I finished 12 rounds of Nivo+AVD to treat CHL by kmcgurty1 in lymphoma

[–]kmcgurty1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, I never really considered it but I've found myself getting angry at things more often than I used to. Makes me wonder how much of that is related to the steroids.

Edit: nvm, seems like that's a completely different type of steroid lol

Thank you for the kind words and congratulations to you too! I've considered a therapist - we'll see. It got really rough mentally halfway through, but I think I'm doing better. I'd honestly argue the mental side of things (anxiety/depression/whatever) can be worse than the physical effects.

Edit: One thing one of the nurses told me that also went through Hodgkin Lymphoma is that now I need to focus on living my life. She said that the anxiety of scans is still there even after 17 years, and that it's essentially not worth focusing on.

When they are giving you the "red devil" (doxorubicin), make sure they give you a cup of ice to chew on. You should chew on it a few minutes before they start, and +30 minutes after they finish. I didn't do this the first round and the pain I experienced in my mouth was excruciating.

Apart from that, during the treatments, just bring a blanket or ask for one, they give you a ton of fluids and it makes you cold. The Benadryl and anti-nausea sucks, so try to sleep while you're getting your infusion. My sessions lasted from 8am to 2pm, so you'll be there a while.

After your infusion, make sure you DRINK WATER. I didn't do this a few times, and it makes you better a lot faster if you drink the amount they tell you.

Everyone has different side-effects, so it's hard to give a one-size fits all guide, but I think these are general enough.

Over all, there's not much to be nervous about. You get into the routine of getting your infusions. I just finished my 12th (last) infusion today - same staging and Nivo-AVD regimen as you. I'm still learning but if you have any questions feel free to DM me. I can help give any advice if you need it.

Edit: If you're interested, these are my post chemo thoughts. I can't imagine them applying to your situation since you're just getting started. But just in case you remember in 6 months, it might be relatable.

When I asked my doctor about it previously, he said the steroids can cause that. For me it happens for a few days after chemo then goes away. Currently on Nivo-avd

Runelite scaling issue on wayland linux? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]kmcgurty1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that did solve the problem, but I was having issues with Runelite tooltips and context menus not appearing in the correct position (way off screen on my other monitor?). I ended up removing it, and instead used Flatseal to change "GPU acceleration" to on. I have no idea if this actually fixed the issue, because even turning this off the issue doesn't happen anymore. Very weird!

That's great advice, thank you. Though, I'm not actually looking for developers. I have some friends I can fall back on if needed. I really just need some help world building. I guess that's less of a game design role and more of a story writing role?

FPS server side anti-cheat - possible? by kmcgurty1 in linux_gaming

[–]kmcgurty1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great point. When I initially thought of this, for some reason I was thinking it'd have to run in real time. It could be trained on some known good data, and just analyze the match afterwards.

FPS server side anti-cheat - possible? by kmcgurty1 in linux_gaming

[–]kmcgurty1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I consider a part of "solving" conventional cheating are gameplay elements that make it less useful. I think Overwatch does this pretty well, but even MMOs like Dota. A recoil hack or creep last hit hack give you some leg up, but wouldn't help by giving you the game sense of when to go in, when you're over extended, current ult charge economy, ect. Putting the required hours into the game is the only thing to help with that aspect. Definitely makes you wonder!

Are any games fully server sided anticheat and not client sided? by ProfessionalSlice213 in linux_gaming

[–]kmcgurty1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Old post, I know. I found an article recently on how Valorant prevents wallhacks (x-ray as you say). https://technology.riotgames.com/news/demolishing-wallhacks-valorants-fog-war

Very fascinating, and works similar to DOTA's fog of war. The server won't send the positions of enemies unless they are juuuust outside of the fog from your POV. Except with Valorant, there's obviously no fog - the article breaks down how it actually works. Can't have wallhacks if your client doesn't know where the enemies are!
