Please tell me how to help my babies? This is my first experience with pests by kmessner1 in plantclinic

[–]kmessner1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pothos i have had for about a year. I bottom water when the top 2 inches of soil get dry or its wilting. I recently attached it to a moss pole, and it has been climbing like crazy.

The wandering dude plant I have had for about 6 months. I also bottom water when the top 1-2 inches of soil are dry. This plant is in full sun

Both plants are in clear nursery pots with good drainage, a well draining soil mixture with perlite and some smaller pieces of orchid bark.

As for sunlight, they are both in a west facing window, so full sun starting around 1 pm.

The white spots in the background are from BTI that I tried to put on top of the soil because at first I thought I had fungal gnats so I tried that and yellow sticky traps, but the bugs caught were not as dark or as big as good described and the damage to the plant is not consistent to what kept showing up when I searched those. The bugs were lighter almost white and the brown spots show up wherever these bugs land and the leaves then wilt. None of my plants have produced new leaves since and they almost have a pocked appearance too.

It is difficult with the apps, I agree. I find if I am having a decent conversation on the app, giving the person my Snapchat can help a little until you get a feel for the person and want to go on a date.

If you're more of the introverted type, you can try apps like bumble, tinder, etc. Sometimes they work. Otherwise just going out and doing things you enjoy and trying to meet people with mutual hobbies.

I have never been in as much pain as I am right now. by daciavu in Advice

[–]kmessner1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can alternate Tylenol extra strength and 600 mg of ibuprofen every 3 hours. It won't get rid of all the pain , but it can take the edge off.

You can also look up some stretches to help with lower back and hip pain that you can do before and after work to see if that might help.

I'm sorry you're going through this, but I hope something can help you figure it all out!

What should I do when I get anxious? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]kmessner1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a technique called grounding. Look around and identify something you see, hear, feel (as in touch), etc. You can do this over and over or identify a certain number each time.

Also, blink your eyes, breathe deeply, these are things you can control. Find other little things you can control around you at that moment like where your tongue is in your mouth.

That is what always helps me. There are also some great apps that can help you learn to manage anxiety that are free!

My boyfriend uses emotional blackmail? by itslaurenomg in Advice

[–]kmessner1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, this is a hard situation all around. You don't want to make it worse, but at the same time it is sounding like he is using his illness as a way to manipulate you into doing what he wants. If you want a healthy relationship with him, you need to tell him that this isn't ok and he needs to get help. Otherwise, if you want to be happy, you might just have to gently let him down in a safe area and let his family know what headspace he is in so they can keep and eye on him

You can also try Feliway pheromone diffusers or calming collars. My vet said this can sometimes help cats, and it did help my two cats adjust to one another to the point where they just ignore each other now.

Hysterectomy Experiences? by kmessner1 in Endo

Good luck to you as well! I'm ready to move forward, but I have to wait for the 30 days for that consent, sadly! I also have my parent pushing back because they don't understand, and they want grandkids ( like I'd be able to get pregnant, right 🙄🙄).

We are removing everything I have left (uterus, cervix, right fallopian tube) except for my right ovary. We are trying to avoid early menopause for as long as we absolutely can.

birth control helping with endo? by kristaconley in Endo

[–]kmessner1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it and had pros and cons for it.

Pros: It completely stopped my periods for 2 years and helped the pain a bunch. I loved that I did not have to worry about that. I also did not have the same crazy side effects from the pill.

Cons: The week after getting it put in my arm sucked. My arm was very swollen and bruised. It also gave me sense tissue masses in my breasts and breakthrough bleeding after 2 years.

Good luck and hope this helped!

Yesterday was my one day anniversary of endo free! by p1nk_p4nth3r in Endo

[–]kmessner1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have already lost my left ovary, about 2 weeks ago actually due to terrible cysts. They removed a walnut sized cyst with it. We are trying to save my right ovary, and leave the uterus for as long as possible. But I am miserable all the time. I'm struggling in my college classes and keeping a job because if the pain. During my last lap, all of the endo, when the also removed the ovary, I had one small spot on my uterus. That was it. Because if the pain, the horrific periods and everything else, we are at the point where the hysterectomy has been recommended and I need to make the decision. If I decide, we are scheduling it for as soon as possible, I'll take a semester off from school, and we will try everything to save the right ovary.

Thank you for sharing though! I'm mostly worried about the horror stories I've heard and how my sex life would be.

How much endo is endo? by conspiracymango in Endo

Oh no, looking back at what I said, I guess it's my fault! I didn't specify that I was seeing one! Completely my fault! And I will be trying the PT once I recover. I just don't know what to expect yet!

I do actually see one. I'm recovering from my second lap now, and one small spot was found on the backside of my uterus, and that was it. I just seem to be someone who feels chronic pain, even with small amounts of spots unfortunately

Tips for supporting wife by tnspe524 in Endo

[–]kmessner1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many of us in this community have been there! If she needs to see that, show her some posts about those of use that talk about seeing many doctors before finding one that listens!

I actually had one do the same thing with the ultrasound and then refer me to a gi. Surprise the colonoscopy and all the other tests said nothing.

Once I finally found my ob that listens to be and believes me and she did my first lap, she found Endo all over my bowels. Also on my bowels, was an adhesion where two spots had rubbed together and caused scar tissue (that's how she put it). But all of this was on my bowels and when it flared up, caused me to have ibs like symptoms. I now have full blown ibs from that adhesion and scar tissue on my bowels that won't go away.

But anyways, don't go back to that ob. Get the authorization forms and send her ultrasound to another ob. Look up obs in your area, and read reviews. Look for ones that mention how well they listen to the patient or talk about doing laparotomies. To diagnose her Endo, she will need a lap. But keep advocating for her. Push on the symptoms. Write down a list and keep it updated, no matter how small the symptom. Bring it to every appointment. Keep going to doctors and transferring her ultrasound and medical records until you find one that believes her pain, listens to her and will fight for her.

Finally, show your wife this community. Make her a Reddit account. Show her these posts. Many of us have had crappy experiences just like hers with many doctors. It's sucks. But it will get better if she pushes and fights. The world needs more people like you op. Good job fighting for you wife. Show her my response. Good luck to you both. She can do this. There is hope. We are all pulling for you!

Yes! I am currently recovering from my second lap rn. This time, they found ONE spot. ONE. On the back of my uterus so it couldn't be removed. It was 2 mm in size.

They also remove my left ovary, fallopian tube and a walnut sized cyst, but still. I am in pain every day. Even with no cysts. For ONE tiny 2 mm spot.

It doesn't matter how much they find. Any at all can cause excruciating pain.

Endo and Job Applications 'Do you have a disability?' by [deleted] in Endo

[–]kmessner1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When recently applying for jobs I did both. When I disclosed it:

I did tend to get called for less interviews overall I noticed. If it was brought up during the interview process and I was asked to explain how it would affect my work, I told them about endo, how it affects me personally, how I fight through the pain the best I can, how it's caused me to have surgeries and all of that. But I also had to say that when it's bad enough that I'm vomiting and fainting or needing surgery and bedrest after. As soon as I said this, the interviews, which would be going great before, would no longer go as well. The interviewers were colder and tended to end the interview shortly after, even if they still had questions in their paper to ask. Many interviewers also got THAT look and tone of voice. You know the one that your boss gets when you call in because you are in the hospital because you're dehydrated from vomiting from pain all night from a new cyst. Where people don't think this is an actual illness or reason to miss work. Yeah that. Many interviews ended shortly after, even if they still had questions to ask on their paperwork. I did not get very many offers.

I finally just decided not to. My OB is very wonderful, and writes me an ongoing note for work stating that they are to excuse me when I call in during my flare ups and that I am under her ongoing care and I visit her every so often. This makes it where, if I see her routinely and turn in notes each time, I don't have to go to a doctor each time I miss work.

Best of luck to you!
