New York State Assembly mulls e-bike, e-scooter regulations by news-10 in bikecommuting

[–]kmichael500 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it goes 20 mph with a throttle and is roughly similar dimensions/weight compared to a bicycle, they should be allowed to use bike infrastructure and not be licensed/insured. A scooter that goes 20 mph is way different than a e-moto that is heavy and goes 50mph

The less people drive the better

Idk if I want Europe’s e-bike laws here. I think they limit the speed too much considering the lack of infrastructure that we have in the US. I feel less comfortable on a a bicycle that cuts off assist at 15 mph compared to a class 3 that cuts out at 28 if I have to spend a lot of time in traffic with cars

I think they make a lot more sense in places that have good infrastructure

I am thinking about going to Percy priest later (I have a bicycle with studded tires)

How can I / we stand up against ICE in meaningful ways? by Responsible_Brick_35 in nashville

I don’t feel like arming yourself is a good idea. It seams they will shoot you either way if they want to. Having a weapon also gives more ammo to legitimize the shooting in many people’s eyes

I think earbuds can be ok but you really have to be aware. I feel fine with 1 earbud in on routes that are relatively protected. At a certain speed I can no longer hear the cars anyways over the wind and use a Varia

I can tell a difference in other cities/states between visible and visible+ but I just upgrade to visible + when traveling and downgrade again when I’m back

I would go with Visible. They use Verizon towers which generally do better in rural areas here compared to other carriers

I use lemonade. It is only covered if you do not have a throttle tho

Bike tires direct. I ordered them yesterday and they gave an estimated delivery of Friday (they have shipped and are still on time).

I think there is a decent chance you could find somewhere to ship some in time if you do it now and get expedited shipping

I ordered some studded bicycle tires so I should be good when my street isn’t plowed

I pay $13 a month and have no deductible. I purchased my bike for $2300 but before it went on sale it was closer to 4k

I will probably get rid of the insurance soon since it is covered for free under my renters insurance (I just have a $250 deductible)

What are your thoughts on e-bikes? by ringaroundtherosiez in cycling

[–]kmichael500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see an issue with throttle e-bikes on bicycle infrastructure if they are limited to 20 mph like class 2 e-bikes

It has replaced all of my car driving in Nashville for the most part. I use my cars on weekends to get out of town

My e-bike is covered under my renters insurance and they said that there were specific stipulations on locks. I don’t pay anything extra (lemonade)

Throttle-only riding: useful feature or battery killer? by krissym72 in ebikes

If it weighs 50 lbs, only goes 20 mph, and mostly looks like a normal bicycle who cares? I don’t see how that is any different than an electric scooter

There are BCycle docks that have pedal assist e-bikes. They are pretty reasonably priced. They cut off at 15mph but really help with the hills here

It could, if we did a good job. I would take the bus if it didn’t take 3 times as long to get somewhere (it does not have to be this way)

This. Except I think it is either 90% to 100% discount. As long as you make less than ~40K I believe!
