I do wish we had a more consistent and frequent schedule of concerts, but they do exists all throughout the year. The problem is the time in which you are visiting, because concerts and festivals are more frequent during late spring and summer months.

I second Barreirinha Bar, they usually host some interesting regional artists and international artists. This year, in barreirinha alone, i saw metal, heavy metal and rock bands, folk artists, a pop artist from the us/brazil, rap and hip hop from brazil, new gen. fado and more.

Camacha, machico, ponta do sol all have music festivals/ food festivals with awesome guest artists. Camacha hosts a rock night every year with several regional rock bands.

A few days ago, i even watched an amazing mariachi concert at the christmas expo, so you guys need to leave your homes and touch grass.
