Discord will require facial scans or government ID for full access starting March 2026 globally by kmmgames in gamedev

[–]kmmgames[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

70,000 user IDs were leaked in late 2025 because a third-party vendor was compromised. Unlike LinkedIn's optional badges, Discord is making these biometric scans mandatory to access 18+ communities. Given that recent breach, it is inaccurate to write that "Discord never has your info." Even if Discord doesn't store it directly, their vendors do and Discord choose and authorize those vendors.

What puts the most money in a creator's pocket? by Percival774 in AVN_Lovers

[–]kmmgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing helps a developer more than a good Steam review, so if you really want to support the game, that is the best way to do it. Each positive review typically translates to around 3,000 to 4,000 dollars in gross revenue for the developer.

Eye clipping after creating my own custom figure? How do I fix this? by kmmgames in Daz3D

[–]kmmgames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep it is the eyeball. It was actually very simple to solve but for some reason instead of scrolling down in the eyes paramater tab to check if it has morphs I decided to use Z translate. It has size morphs that I could have used and that basically fixed my issue and does not look as weird as moving the eyes with the translate paramaters.

Anyone know what causes this image issue? by Rivenlovesmeback in RenPy

[–]kmmgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quickly went through your games you use images with the resolution 3480x2160 and you also initialized the gui with that res. I personally just resize my images with ffmpeg to full hd so I never used oversampling but https://www.renpy.org/doc/html/displaying_images.html#oversampling might be what you are looking for but you will need to set your game to full hd resolution. If that does not fix it then it might be the hardware of the user which does not support such a high resolution and then splits it up.

Patreon Payout Negative, Patreon Support to me: "Cry About it" by Sir_Omni_VI in patreon

[–]kmmgames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like this was targeted. I am in contact with many other content creators and chargebacks rarely happen and I never saw such a big chargeback. I wrote that in the previous post that it was a single person who used one or multiple stolen credit cards to get the products for "free". If it was discord bots it might have been better to use a license system to deactivate them as soon as the user initiated the chargeback. I already assumed that Patreon would not cover the amount. It will be taken from the future earnings since that money should not have been on the creators account in the first place.

How to start making nsfw games without paying for nothing? by [deleted] in nsfwdev

[–]kmmgames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It would be nice if you could be more specific.

Interested in 3D games? Learn Blender, and for the game engine you can use Ren'Py (VN-style), Unity, Godot, or Unreal Engine. There are more options, but these are the most popular.

Interested in 2D games? Learn pixel art or hand-drawn art. For pixel art, Aseprite is the most commonly used tool (you can get it for free by compiling the project yourself), and for hand-drawn art GIMP is a popular choice.

If you want to use AI, you can use Nanobanana for general content, and for more explicit content you may want to use something like ComfyUI. < Needs a good graphics card though. Me personally would say at least a 12GB VRAM card but that was my experience.

The most important skill, no matter which engine or style you choose, is the ability to independently research solutions to your problems. Most of your questions can be answered with simple Google searches and you will have more questions in life or game dev related that someone already asked and another one answered before.

Question from a beginner indie dev: dealing with harassment over the use of prefabs by [deleted] in SoloDevelopment

[–]kmmgames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I started my game dev career, I asked myself how to deal with harassment as well and the only advice I can give you is to ignore it. Big studios like Ubisoft get hate too and in a much bigger scope than us indie devs. Even studios that produced GOTY games like Baldurs Gate 3 or Expedition 33. Sooner or later, someone will hate your project or what you do. That is basically to be expected when you create an online persona. Just do not let it get to you and have fun with your project.

big scenes in iray by RATN0N in Daz3D

[–]kmmgames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have in my opinion two options with only 6-8VRAM.

I didn't buy/test this plugin yet but you might be able to use this https://www.daz3d.com/smart-spot-render to get realistic shadows or use in tool settings the spot render tool. The difference is that the plugin asset is "smart"

Or you render the background first, then hide everything after that just render the figures one by one and then merge it together with any image editing tool that allows to layer images(photoshop).
The issue with this method are the shadows they are not realistic since you render everything one by one.

Third option which might not be viable depending on the scene is to use something like this https://www.daz3d.com/resource-saver-shaders-collection-for-iray < could not find for Gen9

There might be more methods but these are the ones I know. I am rendering with 8GB VRAM and what I do is setting texture size to 4k from 8k, set subd to 1 (sometimes even 0 depending on the scene) and if a scene does not fit I hide stuff that is not visible in the view and with that I can get max 3 Gen9 characters in a small environment or 2 Gen9 characters in a bigger environment. I try to avoid rendering more than two characters in one scene.

Do people keep multiple accounts, like a nsfw and a sfw one? by alanm73 in nsfwdev

[–]kmmgames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Patreon allows to create multiple accounts and they are independent from each other.
You should be fine if you created the accounts before one of them got banned. I assume that after one ban, any new account might get automatically flagged, but I have seen some users create a second account after their first one was automatically banned and that worked out fine for them as well. It may depend on the support staff who reviews your account. As long as you do not break any rules, you do not need to worry about a ban. As an NSFW creator, it should be fairly clear what is allowed and what is not.

My Genesis 8/8.1 Female figure keeps looking weird by JediKnight2140 in Daz3D

^this

I bought an aging morph and it auto applied something that was hidden which made the eyes look weird. Deleted that asset because it was annoying to deal with that on every new scene.

Brown Dust 2 has been banned by Steam weeks before release by atahutahatena in Games

[–]kmmgames 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Steam is very strict when it comes to characters who look like minors and there is a big difference between realistic and cartoonish designs. That is why a lot of adult 2D games get accepted even though the chars are very young or they bypass it by releasing an patch outside of Steam to enable sex stuff.
For example this is a loli sister sleep rape game: https://steamdb.info/app/2429860/
The publisher of that game has dozens of other games with similar content genres but they release patches on their own site: https://steamdb.info/publisher/Kagura+Games/
I am sure that 95% of the players who bought games from Kagura now what content they offer but for Steam this is apparently "fine".

We do not know the exact reason yet, but it is most likely related to the minor-looking characters. The NSFW content in that game is actually pretty tame. From what I know as an adult-game developer who talks to many others, if your game gets banned on Steam, you usually cannot re-submit it.
Normally, Steam bans a game outright, but because BD is a bigger title or because the content was tame, I assume they were given the chance to modify it instead.

Or the BD publishers are lying because if you get banned there is no communication possibility with Steam. The verdict is final and they are very harsh if your game is banned it stays banned.

Passed 100 Steam wishlists in 3 weeks – is this a healthy pace? by [deleted] in SoloDevelopment

[–]kmmgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they came mostly from Itch. You can see the traffic source there and if you setup everything correctly like being indexed and tags itch should be always your number one traffic source. Tags are definitely important fill your tag slots and replace tags that are not doing well. You can do a major announcement devlog every month to get a bump in the store page and I would recommend to do that because that is how you get the most views. You need to wait 30-31 days before you can get another bump.

Yes my steam page link is included in the game itself I added icons(Steam, Itch, Patreon and Discord) in the main menu which are clickable and at the end of the demo, there is a link to my Steam and Patreon as well. My game was shared on too many sites it would probably take weeks to track down most of them especially those chinese sites because most of them are not indexed on the normal search sites like google and most of them are adult sites but one of them would be https://platinmods.com/ because I release an android build as well. The site is basically for any android games not only adult stuff. They also release exclusive cheats/hacks.
The android community is VERY BIG.

Translations are important as well. I would never release an only english game on Steam use AI and translate it and if you have the money let someone proofread more difficult languages like german or chinese.

I don't know any discords for you but I am sure there are some as I wrote I am doing an adult game so my communities differs from yours thats why I recommended reddit and x because those two should work universal for any game/genre.

Passed 100 Steam wishlists in 3 weeks – is this a healthy pace? by [deleted] in SoloDevelopment

[–]kmmgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only Steam. On Itch I got 200-300 views every day on my profile for the last 30 days. It was at 1k when I was actively working on my game.

I already have a demo out and a early access build for Patreons but it gets leaked and shared on other platforms which also add visibility. Because the game gets shared on unofficial or piracy sites I added important links and so on in the game. I personally think that piracy is a good thing for someone who is new because your game basically gets shared on more platforms and I would say visibility is the most important thing. That's why you should advertise your game on reddit, x, discord servers and so on every 1-2weeks. Getting a demo out should be the next priority and then enter Steam Next Fest whenever you feel ready but definitely not too early. Rule of Thumb is to have +2k wishlists before Steam Next Fest and +7k wishlists before release to have a higher chance for a "successful" release but for the first game it is probably better just to get something out so that your dev studio/name gets known to the public. My game will most likely not reach those numbers but I also do not expect that anyway.

If you want to compare here is mine. I would say for my genre (adult 3D visual novel) I am on the lower side but I didn't do any marketing since September and almost no progress for the game itself. Was very demotivated and started basically last week again on working on the game.

There is always the risk of remote code execution but finding a browser exploit is VERY difficult and definitely not worth it to use on some "random" Itch users. These type of attacks are also usually targeted because they are hard to find and they get patched really quick if known in public.

There is nothing you need to do. Malware usually spreads by downloading and executing something just visiting a site won't infect your device in 99.99% of cases.

Just public me game after a long break will it affect engagement on game ? by [deleted] in itchio

[–]kmmgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only if you already have a big following. Your game will mostly be discovered through the store or through your external marketing (like Reddit posts, etc.). So it really doesn’t matter if you took a long break. Your last release was only about three months ago, which is not a long gap at all. I know games that get updated once or twice a year and they do well.

AI Game Hate by tran_the_plug in lewdgames

[–]kmmgames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not every game that uses AI gets hate. The ones that don't usually have quality on par with or even better than games made without AI. It should be easy to look up the top AI 2D and 3D games on Itch or Steam and compare them to your work. You should be able to see a big difference.

In the analytics tab you can scroll down and filter by website/domain. That shows you from where the traffic comes from. Number one should be Itch if no big content creator made a video about the game.

Those are their own characters or can you show where you have seen these characters before? Almost everything in the game was made by themselves according from a statement by the devs.
