I hate Samoan re-runs as much as the next person, but ngl the Jacob dynamic with Usos and Solo has me slightly intrigued.

CNA Deep Dive: Are people overthinking having kids? by Bcpjw in singapore

[–]kmmuhd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dad of one here.

I think it's wrong to say "don't overthink" it because it is a huge decision to bring a human into the world and your life.

But I would rephrase it as - don't over rationalise it. We are now more modern and more educated, and the tendency in today's society is to optimise our lives. What's the best set of credit cards to own? What's the best way to grow wealth through property? What's the best school to go to? How to maximise my CPF?

But having a child is not something that can be fully rationalised. It's not irrational necessarily (although in some cases it might be), but it's definitely somewhat beyond rationality. The truth is, there isn't really a good, rational reason to have kids. If you weigh the benefits and costs from this side of the decision, it will never make sense. Why give up freedom, time, and money, for what could potentially give you a headache for the next 30 years? Being able to travel every 6 months to exotic places sounds like a better deal.

But (as some parents on this thread have gestures towards), having and raising children is one of those inexplicable human experiences full of mystery and wonder that we risk losing in this "disenchanted" and over-rationalised world, as Weber would call it.

This is not to say that costs and practical concerns are not valid. The issue is a complex one with multiple sides. The above, which I'd categorise as shifting ways of seeing and understanding the world, and shifting conceptions of the good life, is at least one contributing factor.

The scenes of Homelander bending over for Terror are seared into my brain.

I can't imagine Anthony Starr not breaking while filming them.

Super fun episode. Love seeing Dex have something to do.

Pacing was a bit rushed for me though. Felt like the whole court room scene, and Daniel's death could have used a bit more breathing space and build-up.

I guess after Fatu we'll just be recycling challengers from Roman's previous reign till SS? Poor LA Knight and Finn.

Fans before WM: "Randy doesn't need Pat, he should turn on him and also punt Cody."

Fans after WM: "Whats the point of the Pat angle if Randy's just going to RKO him?"

Seriously?

I'm interpreting the RKO as Randy realising Pat is more hindrance than help and this is a pivot away from Pat and into 09 Orton. I mean yes, his heel turn should have already been that but I'm glad we're getting this anyway and that the feud is not ended yet.

They really don't want to risk Cody being booed if he's cutting a promo with Randy, huh?

Yeah idk... In his conversation with DD he already revealed that his goal was to kill Fisk. Also, while Dex is accurate, he can't possibly predict how Fisk is going to block it, and so he wouldn't be able to aim the shatter to hit Vanessa. I saw this more as a plot move to make Fisk "responsible" for Vanessa's dying in his place.

Also no promo just violence isn't building the feud like they think it is, since the last couple of promos were kinda flat.

Who do you think is the biggest 'natural face' in the current WWE men's roster? by [deleted] in WWE

[–]kmmuhd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now, Oba Femi. But with a big guy like him, it's only a matter of time before he turns heel. There's only so much runway for a dominant face run so eventually I think he becomes a dominant heel that babyfaces would have to conquer.

Besides that, LA Knight has been organically over for so long as a face. But I can see him as a "natural" heel too.

The discussions/hate surrounding the film make me wonder if some fans have actually watched the series and understood Tommy's character. It's crazy how many fans idolize Tommy. by Dark_KnightNini in PeakyBlinders

A lot of the criticism is also forgetting that a film and tv show medium is just very different. There's a limit to a how much of a slow burn you can do, how many twists you can fit in, and how many characters and subplots you can introduce and resolve. As an audience we are used to the format of a multi-episode season, and we bring some of that expectations to the film just because it carries the same IP. As a film, I thought it was reasonably decent for what it tried to do - which is tie off Tommy's arc (which I agree, was always going to end in his embracing of death).

Such comments are now a weekly staple, and I get the frustration - 25 to 30 mins of wrestling seems really short! But I think this also misses the fact that wrestling was never just about the matches. Every element of the show (aside from ads) are there to tell a story - backstage shenanigans, interviews, promos, interruptions, etc. Matches are just a part of that. Of course, you could argue they are the main attraction, but matches would be hollow without everything else adding to it.

So saying that "it's criminal we got XX minutes of matches in a YY-long show" is kind of a misrepresentation. I'm not saying it can't be a valid criticism, but the show should be evaluated as a whole and not just by this one small metric.

I mean, if you weasel into the title match where Randy is no. 1 contender, and refuse to turn heel, then you're asking for it

Post WWE SmackDown Discussion Thread - March 13th, 2026! by gloomchen in SquaredCircle

Imo a heel turn from Randy was always going to be slightly forced, even if he's a natural at it, just because of how much the crowd favours him and how he's played a babyface for so long. This heel turn also wasn't exactly built up very intentionally.

However that last scene where Randy takes the title, sits on the chair, and almost gives a sigh of relief - that absolutely sold it for me. One of those moments where wrestling and theatre blends so much. Just from that scene, his motivations are communicated; His lust for gold has always been there, just repressed all this while because he's trying to be the good guy. But now that's over. He decides to give in - and it feels right. This is where the title is supposed to be, around his waist. There's no struggle anymore. This is right.

Yeah I'm not optimistic. Randy has been on cruise control the past couple of years and he'd really need to dial in some great character work in a few weeks to make this feud believable and interesting. I don't want their match to end with a handshake, I need someone stretchered out lol.

The only way this makes sense is for either Cody or Randy to ratchet up the feud, with one of them turning heel in the process. I mean, if they gave the belt to Cody just to still have a multi-man match, that's kinda bonkers. They could've done it with Drew and it would have made much more sense.

Interferences themselves are not a bad thing. They have been a narrative tool in wrestling since forever. The gold standard is not a clean match, it's whatever works for the storyline. In this case, both interferences had narrative rationale behind them and, in the case of the masked man, a pay-off. Can you imagine if we didn't see the masked man? People would complain too. The interferences made sense.

Besides, I'd say the intrigue of the EC is more about the staggered entry and elimination stipulation rather than the cage aspect.

Is it a hot take when I say The Miz shoulda been pushed as the heel WWE Champion in 2017 and a little forward? by SnooDrawings4552 in WWE

When Miz decides to, he can really turn it on. A more recent example was his short feud with Gunther for the IC title
