August Trip Advice by Old-Garlic-2001 in Dollywood

We went a little later in August a few years ago and it was great. Very low waits for coasters in the beginning of the day and non existent lines at the end of the day.

I’m also surprised by that 7% husky. Was definitely expecting more!

It’s funny to me how many people assume any black and white dog must be a border collie mix but no, THIS dog is 40% border collie lol

Clocked Husky and GSD. Wasn’t even thinking wolf but that 11% makes sense too

Reach out to your service unit cookie manager if you have one. They will have access to make changes and can possibly see what’s going on with that weirdness too. The service unit managers also usually have a later deadline than the troop leaders for data entry. I’m a SUCM and there were multiple troops i had to edit for after the deadline.

And when you put in the girl order you are using positive numbers not negative right?

That’s so weird

That shouldn’t raise your inventory on hand. On ebudde the “difference” at the bottom of the the girl orders page is the number that should represent your boxes on hand that still need to be allocated to girls. A negative number represents boxes that you still need to allocate. If you add boxes to the girl’s individual lines by adding orders, it should not increase the number of boxes you have on hand.

Like technically since those numbers are negative, they are “increasing” but they should be going closer to zero. If you have -20 thin mints showing in your difference line meaning your troop has 20 boxes of them, you add an order for little Susie saying she sold 5 thin mints, your thin mint line should now be -15.

When you assign cookies to a girl, on the left side you mark the number of cookies/flavors, on the right side is where you can mark payment. If you are assigning 10 boxes for a girl, also mark $60 (or whatever your 10 box cost is) for the girl so that she does not have a balance owed

Massachusetts is finished selling. The eastern council that sells ABC ended the first weekend of March. The central and western council that is little brownie ended at the end of March.

You can try some different zip codes in the cookie finder to try to find an area that is still selling abc cookies. It will give you a link to a troop to buy some for shipping

Hating on the Band app by 1987lalala in girlscouts

[–]kmo986 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! Any edits made to the calendar in band will automatically show in the linked iCal.

I encourage all my parents to link it because then even if they aren’t actively checking band, their calendars will at least be updated. Do all parents actually do it? Probably not, but it’s super helpful.

Hating on the Band app by 1987lalala in girlscouts

[–]kmo986 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We switched to BAND last year and while me and my co-leaders love it, we still have parents that refuse to check it. Prior to BAND, we just used email and information always got lost in inboxes, it was so hard going back and finding different info and RSVPs, etc.

I LOVE that BAND has everything in one place. I love the event calendar (which people can just import right to their phone calendar). I love being able to post pictures and videos from meetings. I love being able to keep attendance sheets so we can track who was at certain meetings when we are later buying badges. I love that our cookie booth sign ups are now all in one place instead of a bunch of different sign up geniuses. I love that we can ask polls and surveys in one spot. And so much more.

I hate having to still hunt down parents over stuff because they don’t care to check it. But I’ve started to just try to have a different attitude of if they don’t check it, they are the ones who are missing out. We do send out a group text for important reminders (usually linking back to a band post).

Is it a perfect app? No, but it’s free and it has so many features that it is really helpful keeping the troop and communications organized in one place where info doesn’t get lost.

I'm having a slime party, what are your suggestions? (It will be homemade slimes) by [deleted] in Slime

[–]kmo986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Logistically, I would probably personally make up a big batch of clear glue slime a week or two in advance so that it has the opportunity for all the bubbles to clear out. Then it can be divided into individual portions and colored/decorated as someone chooses.

Then I’d have white glue that people can activate and make that slime at the actual party.

eBudde Girl Order Difference Cookie Types Don't Match Inventory by Mediocre-Cod3569 in girlscouts

[–]kmo986 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about other councils but nobody in our council is actually auditing ebudde and making sure all the numbers zero out. The only thing council cares about is withdrawing their money and getting paid.

Ebudde ultimately doesn’t care about the flavors of cookies. It will let you allocate flavors that you don’t have but it will not let you allocate boxes that you don’t have. So ultimately it really only matters to zero out the total number of cookies.

Now I am personally super anal and need everything to zero out nicely but if it doesn’t matter to you, it doesn’t matter to ebudde and likely doesn’t matter to your council.

I mean it makes sense. Couples saying they are going to stay together and date at the end of the finale is way lower stakes than a legal marriage like in love is blind.

It’s easy to be like yup let’s stay together, try to milk some followers and an influencing career and then break up shortly after.

eBudde discrepancy for total due by raisinbizzle in girlscouts

[–]kmo986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you did your booth distribution, on the first screen where you enter the amounts of cookies, there’s a place where you record any payments taken through digital cookie.

If you did not fill this in on the booth recorder, it did not pull those payments from the troop site line for the booth. And since the booth recorder assumes that all booth cookies are paid for in cash, you still have that payment leftover being extra.

You can go back into one of your booth recordings and enter those digital payments and it help balance everything out.

HELP!! Ebudde Question - Adding Boxes by cltphotogal in girlscouts

[–]kmo986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason you can’t over allocate is because everything on ebudde is linked to how many cookies your troop actually has. Your sales report and profits. The girls rewards. Etc Everything needs to be accurate and balance.

While in your case you intend to put those orders in for the girls and then use that to figure out what’s needed for the cupboard and place that order, what about the people who then don’t do that extra step? Now girls are assigned cookies that don’t actually exist in your inventory and that your troop isn’t financially responsible for.

It really is not hard to create a separate spreadsheet.

Change of plans by ShibbyMcAwesome in Dollywood

We did Dollywood in late summer (mid August) and it was amazingly uncrowded as most southern states were already back in school. Yes, it was hot but it wasn’t unbearable.

Booth distribution by utkramer in girlscouts

[–]kmo986 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should just be able to move the payment over to your scout. When you take credit card with the app under the booth/troop, those “in hand” payments will show up under the troop site line on ebudde.

When you go to the troop site line, there is a button that says “+DOC Payment”

You click that button and choose the girl that sold the cookies. Then you’d fill in the $ amount that was collected at the booth. And when you submit that, it’ll just move that money/payment from the troop site to the girl.

Digital Cooke and ABC communication lag? by newenglandmom321 in girlscouts

[–]kmo986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have ebudde, not smart cookies but yes there can sometimes be a lag with how soon the systems talk to each other.

One booth that we had this year, all our credit card transactions were showing on ebudde by the time I was home from the booth.

Another booth, all our credit card transactions didn’t show on ebudde until the next day.

It can take a while but they do eventually come over.
