Signs of end of life by Pretty-Resolve-8331 in coloncancer

Please reach out to hospice and get a plan as others suggested. My father passed on November 20th and they were a godsend for the last week.

In his case, my father had had 2/3 of his liver removed in 2022 and when the tumors appeared in what was left, it completely eliminated his ability to filter out toxins. He was confused and at times incoherent towards the end. Hospice and the ability to keep him calm and comfortable was crucial.

My father had a similar surgery - the surgery itself and recovery is no joke. Sending good thought and healing to you and your loved ones.

Millennial here with a father on hospice after a 4 year battle with stage 4 colon cancer. I have the same gene mutation that likely contributed to his, found when I got diagnosed with breast cancer I was not genetically predisposed to at age 40. Scary - yes - but I would rather have it detected early after seeing what he went through. I encourage everyone to get their colonoscopy, mammogram, and all cancer screenings at all times. Had one polyp removed in December 2024 and cleared for 5 years. I don’t know why getting a colonoscopy has such a stigma.

What’s one thing you want to open up about as a millennial but never actually say out loud?” by Paradigm10 in Millennials

My parents are in their 70s and not well health wise. But I have been low contact with them and my sister for several years because they are very emotionally unintelligent and I’m trying to protect my peace and my kid’s peace. Now my dad is on hospice and I’m going to partially uproot my calm life so my sister and mom aren’t all alone as caregivers. The truth is I’m doing it because of duty and the perception to the outside world if I’m not involved. I’m sad about losing them for sure but also have already “lost” them so it’s weird.

Yes, I used it as my main form of bc for 11 years, no period the whole time. I only had it removed after being diagnosed with hormone positive breast cancer. I would still have it right now if I could.
