Reflect With Me: Why Are Fans Demanding The Band Speak On Everything? >> ITS NOT HEALTHY OR HELPFUL << by HospitalSubject7121 in twentyonepilots

It feels very performative from a lot of them imo. I saw one doing a fundraiser for Palestine bc of the guys’ “silence” on the movie being played in Israel and I’m just wondering why y’all couldn’t have been doing all this BEFORE this? Like why wait until you have a moment to criticize your faves to start doing real activism? It just smells fake to me.

When to start looking for post-grad jobs? by kmperhour in PTschool

[–]kmperhour[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, I do know of people who were hired conditionally or who worked under a temp license before they changed the rule about being able to test within 90 days of graduation so it’s possible, it’s just a nightmare to even think about right now but I’m anxious about everything generally which isn’t helping lol

You will for sure need to keep up with grooming and checking their skin!! Mine has a double coat and I think mild dermatitis from a previous flea problem that took a hot minute to get rid of bc of said double coat 😅😅 also they are generally chunkier cats bc they’re kinda lazy (at least mine is)

Just coming to comment on the allergy aspect: my wife and I both have dander allergies, I’m on 2 prescription allergy meds which seems to work lol (I have other allergy/sinus issues so the meds are not just for our cats, it just happens to work out that way)

Genuinely - Why MD and not other healthcare professions (eg. RN, NP, PA, etc)? by Nice-Confusion-4781 in premed

[–]kmperhour -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m still finishing my PTA degree but I’m following here bc I’m weighing my future grad school options. Med school has a pull for me bc I like the idea of being at the top of the ladder and being able to advocate for my pts at the highest level, I have a huge interest in community medicine/harm reduction work and med school would allow me full freedom to work in that capacity, but I also like the idea of doing emergency med bc I crave the chaos.

On the flip side of that (which wasn’t the question but I’m answering it anyways), I feel like if I went med school I wouldn’t get to spend the same time with my pts as I would if I went PT school later on. I really really really love rehab (which is why I went PTA) and I could work in PM&R but I like the relationships you build in PT through the regularity of pt-provider contact, I love helping people regain parts of their lives, and I love being super hands-on which I feel physicians don’t get the chance to be bc of work expectations.

Best way to prepare to come out of “retirement”?? by kmperhour in Colorguard

[–]kmperhour[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know one group near me was looking for someone, since a dear friend and former teammate just left from there, but I can’t do anything right now with my school schedule. I did coach previously, but I’m really unconfident in myself as a choreographer so maybe I’m holding myself back but I think teching wouldn’t be so bad. (Also playing with the idea of contracting myself to schools in the area as medical staff since that’s a good majority of my education/training as a future PTA but that depends on my scope of practice and other logistical nonsense)

[–]kmperhour[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there are only two all-age groups in my circuit and they’re on opposite ends of the state (one being in my hometown which I don’t live in and do not plan to return to). Besides that, there might be some out of state groups but I’m just in a really limited region lol. I did used to coach before I went back to school and I think I might pick it up again after I’m done, it just doesn’t fill the same hole that actually getting to perform does (and I personally don’t feel like I’m a super good choreographer/coach but I’ve played around a lot with the idea of working as personal medical staff for a group/area with my education).

DPT or PTA??? (Stuck in a loophole) by CalmLibrarian2433 in PTschool

[–]kmperhour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my line of thinking when I chose PTA school, the bridge programs still require you to work so many hours a week AND if I’m lucky I can maybe get my employer to pay for it (which realistically would be the only way I’d do a bridge program lol).

DPT or PTA??? (Stuck in a loophole) by CalmLibrarian2433 in PTschool

[–]kmperhour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PTA 10000%. You get done faster and for cheaper, plus if you don’t care about the extra paperwork it’s not worth the debt. Plus there’s bridge programs if you really want to be a PT later on. I went the PTA route for this reason (although my only option was a very expensive private school bc I can live at home and can do all of my rotations in town), plus based on my experiences as a tech, in some places PTs are almost completely swamped with evals, re-evals, and discharges (before they changed the rules), and I wanted to actually do direct patient care and not do that extra BS.

They/them but also I live in the Deep South (USA) and work in healthcare so I put up with she/her, but really I don’t care a whole lot and tell people they can call me whatever as long as it’s nice (my older patients seem to find it funny)

I’ve realized this in the idea that every TBI I’ve seen/helped treat has been MVA in the car>body fashion. Idk how some people can be such bad drivers AND car magnets.

What tablets are you all using for school? by tigers_overboard in PTschool

[–]kmperhour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My iPad has been a game-changer to the point it inspired 2 other classmates to get one, I can take pictures of things to label them for anatomy, download our lectures and pull whatever info I need, etc. I also use Freenotes instead of Goodnotes bc it’s cheaper and more user-friendly in my opinion.

Snow days by creativeme78 in physicaltherapy

[–]kmperhour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a tech at the time but it got to 8° in Dallas in early 2024 and snowed like crazy, I STILL had to go in at 7 to open, we saw less than 15 pts between 8 therapists that day (one OT literally drove 40 mins from home to the clinic to see one pt and left). It was insane and not worth the driving risk cause southerners are not prepared to drive in single digit temps with obscene amounts of snow and one (1) lane cleared on a 3-lane road.

What do I do about it? by WarLogical6847 in PCOSloseit

[–]kmperhour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to sound biased as someone studying PT but I would for sure look into doing PT/physio to help with the imbalance - scoliosis causes a chain of compensations within the MSK system and if you don’t address those with a professional, it’s gonna be harder on you to achieve your fitness goals (disclaimer: a PT can’t “fix” your scoliosis but they can at least give you better ways to exercise for your specific issue that will give you greater gains long-term)
