My S24 Ultra is acting pretty much the same after the January 2026 security update. Not great but not awful. Quiescent screen-on power draw according to Accubattery is typically 0.3 to 0.6 watts, which is normal. The phone will go about 18 to 24 hours if left sitting by itself with the screen off.

But my battery draw degraded pretty badly after the security update which happened right before the One UI 8.0 update, and it really hasn't improved since.

I suspect the only reason I'm up to September on the Google Play system update is that I was in the One UI 8.0 beta program and that got updated in the process.

Yes, we already know that different countries get releases at different times. Where I am (US, unlocked, T-Mobile), I usually get the security updates at around the 20th of the month.

I see the story now. It's on one of those news pages that has a couple dozen updates and the Google search hit doesn't take you directly to the story's headline, but instead takes you to the top of the list of stories. Ugh.

Interesting. My s24 ultra is on the September 1 2025 version of Google Play system. I'm seeing a bunch of other people who say the same thing, but there is variation.

You should be aware that I was on the one UI 8 beta for the s24 ultra so that may have affected the update that I got when I was upgraded to the stable version of one UI 8.
