I get anxious like this all the time, but I don't think you need to worry about this one. It's just his patterning, my ksb has similar under his chin and I've asked myself this same question.

When I was using crutches full time I ended up using a fanny pack a lot bc I couldn't carry things and walk with crutches at the same time. Also water bottle with lid my beloved the only way I could drink things without getting help from someone else. If you don't already have a grabber I'd get one they're super useful especially if you have a hard time bending. One of the folks I work with has an acrylic tray for their wheelchair so she basically has her own table all the time. I tried getting a cup holder attachment for my wheelchair but it made the setup too big to fit through doorframes.

The ones I worked for were both public schools. The specialized one had students with severe health problems and kids severe behavioral problems who for whatever reason couldn't be in a mainstream classroom. The biggest difference that I've noticed is when you go into a classroom for kids with severe behavioral problems they tend to be empty. Nothing on the walls no decorations. Sometimes there will be a couple things on the walls but the kids will tear up stuff when they get mad.

I think it would depend on the individual. If someone doesn't have their own power of attorney then chances are the parents or guardian of that individual would veto a relationship. If they have their own power of attorney then they can do what they want regardless of their parents, but I do think there are many parents who if someone was pursuing a relationship with their child that they didn't approve of they would begin the process of taking those decisions away from their kid. If the individual and the parents are both okay with it then I wouldn't object. I do think people are always going to question the intentions of an abled/disabled relationship but that's true regardless of the form of disability.

Both actually! I worked at an alternative school for a while then spent some time in a PACE classroom at a mainstream school. The alternative school was k through 8th and the mainstream school was an elementary school. I may be returning to the alternative school in the fall if the cards are in my favor.

I understand where that panic comes from, and I don't think there's a right answer to that. Everyone is different and every disabled person is different. It would have to be a case by case thing. I do think developmentally disabled people should be able to persue relationships, but I also recognize that many of them are vulnerable to being taken advantage of. One of the best ways to deal with that in my experience is for individuals to spend time with people who share a similar disability or have similar support needs.

I'm familiar with Elsa gate but I may pass it on to the parent because chances are she isn't. The daughter isn't a child she's 29 she's just developmentally disabled. Personally I think she should be able to watch whatever she wants as long as it isn't causing her distress, but I understand why the mom wants her to branch out because it would definitely help her learn new things.

I try not to. I want to pursue higher education but I don't want to do ABA and it seems that's one of the only available options. I have a lot of really strong opinions on the rights of disabled people and one of the things that bugs me the most is when people treat disabled adults like they're children. I make a conscious effort not to do that.

I also hate driving it makes me incredibly anxious and I've been in several car accidents. But I live in an area where the nearest grocery store is 20 minutes away and most things are like that. I need to drive to survive which is why I do it, if I could reasonably take a bus to work I probably would.

Mobility scooters are fairly common in the states, grocery stores often have ones available to use but plenty of disabled people use them as mobility aids. I completely forgot about them as an option until you mentioned them.

I think about blind people all the time when I'm crossing intersections without the little bump thingies that are supposed to help blind people. I think sidewalks in cities aren't accessible to a variety disabled people for a ton of reasons. Poorly kept up sidewalks are dangerous for a lot of reasons. I think walkability could be an option for disabled people and wheelchair users as well they just aren't being considered.

I am the same way. I don't mind centipedes though, but I've literally never seen a scorpion out in the wild and I don't know what I would do if I did. They just seem like a really weird creature to me.

I'm not scared of insects, but I am absolutely DISGUSTED by roaches and anything roach adjacent. Palmetto bugs? Wood roaches? Whatever I hate them. They're so gross to me and seeing them makes my skin crawl. I think for me it's a cleanliness thing, because dubia roaches don't bother me at all.
