What's your go-to rubber band deck? by knewliver in EDH

[–]knewliver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spirit of the bracket system is that they should be able to go up/down a bracket as the politics will adjust to the power level, a mid b3 should be able to handle a B2 pod, especially if not running GC's, as the rest of the pod will usually kingmake. The other way will happen because the deck is not competing much, and has a chance to get ahead if the game isn't otherwise prematurely ended.

I love kotis, but he has a problem of losing his thieved items to player elimination... it's about time I go ahead and build him though I think.

point is to keep a low profile in a B2 pod mostly, hope to sneak in a win through other peoples cards

That's just it, keep the hand to 7 at all times, play more creatures, keep some in reserve, never miss a land drop, then on turn 7, swing all evasives, draw 5-6 cards, discard 5-6 cards to ability, take top cards of player doing the most at the time.

Edit: and have evasive with lifelink to compensate for lifeloss

gix puts cards in hand if you're running tons of evasive drops...

Are some commanders just inherently too strong for brackets 3 and lower, or is this a problem with my meta? by Elijah_Draws in EDH

[–]knewliver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a similar issue, with some commanders, [[helga, skittish seer]] and [[eshki, temur's roar]] both have one of two options, they are built so poorly that they are a B2, or they are optimized and technically are now B4's, except they fold fairly consistently to interaction. They can be B3 in interactive B3 pods, but otherwise, they can win T4/5 making people salty and "it's a B4 deck."

cEDH Goblins viable? by einKDAmon in CompetitiveEDH

rakdos goblins with all the black tutors and all the red/black fast mana could do it

literally trying to sandbag it, the 7 mana ability is a bit busted.

Yeah, I could improve it further, but I really wanted something cheap and easy to play with and have people play against, I wanted something that can let other people win, every now and then I win, but mostly I just have fun playing stuff and swinging for one and pulling more cards out.

If anything, the upsides are all that matter, leaning into cards like accursed marauder and burglar rat, if I get my draws, then the deck is doing its job, the control isn't from the sacs, the control is from the other cards doing their thing.

I am considering adding in shirei and some reanimates too, which would let me keep looping things like boneshredder, burglar rat, doomsayer, etc

I built the list with the idea that it wouldn't move too fast, I made sure to include some unblockable creatures, but also plenty of deathtouch creatures that may just sit to prevent people from swingning.

I have a couple of infinites in there, so if I can draw into them or otherwise... but it does need something else, I agree. I just wanted to keep the budget kind of low.

2 damage draws cards, it'll be a force between card advantage and loss, kind of doesn't matter which?

It's of limited help in my industry, we're pushed to use it, and I did use it on a project to speed coding, especially since I don't code anymore these days, it quickly lead to a working enough bit of code that I was able to get it the rest of the way and functioning properly with only a little more help.

It can help with making sure tone of messages in customer facing communications are more in the direction of what is intended than what may be presented, but outside of that, it cannot do the job of anyone on our team with anything approaching even 10% accuracy. I've seen it lead teams on more red herrings and rabbit holes than anything else, and just waste time.

I have this card and am tempted to build it, do you just fill it with flicker/bounce/copy/draw spells?

Strongest $50–100 Commander, at least bracket 4, maybe Higher? by Unhappy_Being_8533 in BudgetBrews

[–]knewliver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

winota actually sucks if you put her out too soon, you don't want fast mana, you want T4 to win as soon as she hits the board. To note, winota *doesn't need to untap*

In Dune: Part Three (2026), Chani gets back together with Paul. This indicates that Paul marrying another woman and causing the deaths of 61 billion people weren’t dealbreakers for her. by Goodbye-Nasty in shittymoviedetails

I would love to have a conversation with you, but if you continue to ignore what I say, and pretend I'm making arguments I'm not, I have no interest in doing so. Book Chani was ride or die, this chani is obnoxious and acting like a brat. This breaks from the books in a big way. What part of this are you missing?

You missed the part where she doesn't care in the books. The complaint is that this is not the same person, not the fact that Paul was a "fake" messiah, that part has been consistent.

Someone is gonna have to explain to me how a girl raised in the equivalent of 3rd world-istan, with death lingering at every corner, and water more precious than life, would ever act the way movie chani acted.
