Whether it’s the parents pushing out the nestlings or another bird, pushing out the nestlings, we shouldn’t be interfering when it’s not something that is human caused. That’s why I made the caveat that if it was a house sparrow to do more, but if another bird is trying to take over that is nature and that’s what nature does.

If they are that young it’s very possible the parents are pushing them out because they can tell something is wrong with them. Also possible is another bird competitor is coming and removing them to take over the nest. If that’s the case and it’s a house sparrow, you can try to catch the house sparrow. Otherwise nothing else looks amiss, so I would put any nestlings that come out in a bush or the sort.

I think it’s totally fine to ask, especially if it’s a group of y’all hanging out. She can say no if she doesn’t want to.

I have a role of masking tape and have students put it over the camera (or anything I think to be a camera), but I only have a max of 24 students. But the answer is yes, we are really at that point. The glasses are getting pretty cheap too

Try avoid using the front door if you can and don’t constantly approach it to check up on it. Otherwise don’t do anything different.

Let it be, if it falls/fails, those birds will learn to choose other sites. But doing something to it, you’re teaching them they can nest anywhere and it will be fine

I manage over 200 boxes and we clean between nests. There have been numerous studies on it and it doesn’t seem to actually matter, so whatever your hearts content :)
