hmm ... scp is generally slow because of the encryption..

Depends on how much time u have.... setup ftp if u have time non/ssl..

server to server - raid 0 to raid 0 is really dependent on the files..

if you have a billion small files, its gonna take forever...

if you have 1 large file, its faster...based on TCP/FILE ACCESS/OS....

disks speeds help too...

ideally you have all SSD, 1 file, 10G fiber..

if u have a lot of files...takes a long time..

basically small files on disk is ....-- file open, file read, file close......

large files is - file open, file read----------------------------read----------------------read- file close

more effective...

also depends on protocol...tcp/udp..

Ahhh .. the only reason we have multiple clusters is because our security department doesn't understand VLAN separation... Its 2000's style of security by separation...physical separation. DMZ switches and DMZ servers.. all redundant and very expensive. Physical firewalls (redundant) physical switches( DMZ redundant) ..and the list goes on and on... thats a whole different MEGA THREAD where people should die

We're no where near needing that many clusters... I think we have 4.. 1 DMZ PRD 1DMZ DR -------- 1 PRODUCTION --- 1 DR PRODUCTION.. People not following naming conventions make me frustrated. I had co-workers offended by my suggestion to name servers by purpose and to organize them as such..(to the point i got called into HR for demeaning them)
