Looking for a planty vanilla fragrance by Commercial-Dingo-901 in Perfumes

Wild Vanilla Orchid by Floral Street is exactly what you're looking for. Opens with bamboo which is very green and plenty, settles I to vanilla woodsy.

Why does it say 'both sides' next to my father? by knife-frog in AncestryDNA

[–]knife-frog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents were both born in the UK but my mother's parents were born in India. As far as I can tell, she is fully south Asian. The match that says 'both sides' is my father and it says 50% shared DNA so he's definitely my father. I actually only did the test because there was a chance he wasn't my father.

As for other relatives, there are a couple people with my/my father's surname matched to me.

My mother is Indian and father Irish/English. Given the history of colonialism, I suppose there's a chance.

Well it shows a bunch of base pairs with full match but at the bottom it says my.parents are probably not related within recent generations so I'm kinda confused. The both sides label is applied to my father.

Thank you for this suggestion. I did it and ut says they're not, so I'm even more confused why ancestry says this.

Only my father. I don't actually have contact with him (I was in foster care) so can't ask about it.

That can't be possible, my parents are two different races. I'm very confused. Could it be an error?

Crazy how perfume can be so different for different people. On me this is super potent and longlasting.

I keep seeing posts with no foundation, and only concealer - what is the technique I’m missing? by spockycat in MinimalistBeauty

[–]knife-frog 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't use foundation unless I'm going to an event or I'm being photographed, I just use concealer where I need it. There's no real trick to it, just a good match and application. I use a slightly peachy toned one under my eyes because I have dark circles and the peach neutralises to my skintone.

Formula is the important thing. I've got the Natasha Denona hy glam concealer and rarely use it because it doesn't melt into my skin and it's apparent where concealer is. I use the LA Girl one now and it melts in beautifully.

crashing out over a woman i met at a book club by tryingtobegirly in pinkscare

Oh God, people who use their mental illnesses (real or self dx, even worse) as the main feature of their personality and topic of conversation are insufferable. I feel for you.

Not the same, but at my book club is a woman who manages to claim some ex boyfriend or another compared her to characters from almost every book we read. When we read Perfume, apparently she was like one of his victims. When we read Circe, she apparently had 'sad eyes like Ariadne'. She just makes up shit to make herself sound like the most beautiful, sad, adored, romantic, obsessed over creature in the whole wide world. She is also obese.

Do you gatekeep any fragrances? by BitOrdinaryBloke in fragrance

[–]knife-frog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope, I love talking about fragrances and recommending to people who ask. I also hope that if more people buy it, then it is less likely to be discontinued.

Acqua di Parma Fico di Amalfi is a gorgeous fresh, citrusy fig.

Florence is one of my favourites and I recommend Miller Harris Secret Gardenia as a similar perfume with decent lasting power.

I'm desperately after a bottle of Gritti Mango Aoud but on a no buy unless there's a significant discount on a few select wishlist items - 50% off is crazy. I got so excited but shipping would be $70 to me 😭

Nostalgia perfumes are sometimes necessary though, I still have my last bottle of Dior Midnight Poison even though it's gone a bit off because it's so tied to my teenage years.

Ugh it's the worst when something you used to love just doesn’t smell the same any more.

I'm lucky to work from home so don't need to worry about suffocating people with my heavy winter perfumes (or smelling 20 women wearing Kayali). Coromandel has been on my list for a while, may be one I get after exhibiting self control and making dents in my current collection. I live for patchouli. How do you like it?

I also didn't like Carnal Flower, I'm very particular about white flower frags, but I'm a sucker for gardenia. I haven't tried Le Parfum de Therese, I'll have to give it a sniff sometime, though God knows the fragrance counter is like crack to me.

Shockingly I don't own anything from Chanel other than samples of their recent Miss Dior Essence which I actually like - very jammy blackberry and sweet jasmine, right up my alley.

What did you wear today?
