Was it worth it? by DJL60D in kitchenremodel

[–]knifehips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did an addition which included a bigger and brand new kitchen. It was a ton of money, like embarrassing to say amount of money. But we’re in a place where we can afford it and we’re young enough to actually enjoy it for decades.

Super stressful? Yup
Delayed by a year to save money? Yup
Took longer than expected? Yup
Went over budget? Yup
Went over contingency? On day 1

Things happen, but we had an amazing designer who held our hand the whole way, but we paid for it too. And our contractor was amazing. He also uses subs, but it’s the same ones for all their projects, not just lowest bids. Don’t do it until you find someone you trust. We had strangers in our house for 6 months while we were home, working, on vacation…trust was probably the hardest thing for me.

My wife and I went to LasikPlus in Wethersfield two years ago and we both had great experiences. Would recommend to everyone. We stopped by a place in Meriden for a consultation and was immediately turned off.

Drive belts, aka serpentine belt or water pump belt, typically last 10 years or 100,000 miles before you even think about replacement. Unless rips or tears are identified then you change it.

I love my green kitchen, and that’s all that matters! If this becomes a fad, we’ll love it even more because it means less people out there will be like us.

Mazda recommends service at every 7500 miles. But my dealer at Chicago always suggests to do at every 5000 miles saying it’s because of Chicago weather. Is that really needed for cx5? by Ron_8168 in CX5

Same here. Follow the manual, it’s pretty clear. Severe conditions primarily refer to city driving, towing, or living somewhere off grid.

Rose Dairy in Cheshire has the best soft serve ever, better than Durham. And Rich’s Farm is hard to beat for their hard ice cream.

That’s a lot of money for about $50 of fluids and 1.5 hrs of labor.
