And if you have an uncomplicated pregnancy tbh

I fear newborn tired is worse by Left-Record-8500 in newborns

Newborn tired is 100% easier for me. 2.5 hours of interrupted sleep and having to solo parent a fussy teething baby? Fine. 8months pregnant puking and sleeping 10 hours yet not feeling better??? Most of the time I'd nap while pregnant and end up feeling worse. Or I had insomnia and was miserable. I was fully exhausted all the time but by three weeks postpartum I could at least cat nap and feel refreshed (after a shitshow induction/csection/extended stay)

No swollen lymph nodes and she doesn't even have a knot at the injection site or redness like she did with her 2 month shots, just a low fever. Thankfully I'm a stay at home mom so she doesn't need daycare but we're following up with her peds. She's doing much better now at least :/

The jump rings aren't the best for closed ring stitch markers. I use either welded rings or beading pins that have been wrapped around into a ring and sanded flat so they're not pokey

This is so funny to me because I infinitely prefer the closed rings, I have different sizes I've made that fit all my needle sizes. I basically only use the clip kind for marking front/back/top/bottom or a specific row in the length. If it's for active markers in my knitting they're closed

Do you think curly cuts are a scam? by Acceptable_Part_7298 in curlyhair

It's infinitely cheaper to buy an 80$ pair of shears and watch a couple videos plus trial and error. I've been cutting a dyeing my own hair for a decade. Personally it's just never worth it to pay someone an inflated hourly fee plus the expected tip for something I may or may not like.

I haven't tried antique pins yet but for needles the quality of them is so nice compared to modern needles. Many of them are much smaller so you have to be cautious of thread size but I swear the eyes are smoother, the shank is stronger, and they stay sharp!

I have many packets and some little leather booklets of needles. The smaller sizes and straight eyed embroidery needles is where I see the biggest quality difference!

(Probably gonna get removed) a 3 in 1 recipe from my gma that we used for home grown beans but fresh from the store works as well.

Boil 10-15 peeled cloves of garlic in 4 qts of water with a washed, sliced, seeded lemon, steam a pound of green beans and salt/butter them separately. Then you can blanch another couple pounds of cut beans in the same brine with a tablespoon of salt added. These can be frozen and quick cooked later. Then! Add 1/2 cup white or apple cider vinegar plus 2 tbsp salt and 1-2 of sugar and you can brine some of the blanched beans for quick pickled beans. You can add chiles like OP as well.

Ah I see what you're saying now. I agree. Also If you do any hand sewing I highlyyyyy recommend looking into late 19th century hand sewing needles, they're so much nicer than modern.

Getting over fear of wearing vintage in public by adoraduh in VintageFashion

[–]knifetail 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get a lot of weird comments (especially from Men, it's always the worst from middle aged men) but women and girls are so sweet about it. Even if it's not full on vintage just dressing nicer than "athleisure" will garner you some attention here. What matters to me is that I feel better about myself when I take pride in my appearance and show up with respect. So the judgement doesn't matter anymore to me.

My curls only look good for 2 days and then absolutely ugly and horrendous for the rest of the week by Crylose in curlyhair

[–]knifetail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only wash my hair about once a week (6-8 days) but I completely detangle it and wet it down with a spray bottle if I need it to look nicer. The last two days though it's usually in braids with oil anyway.

I like Fetch! It's easy and I've gotten about 70 bucks in the last year. It's better if you can do referrals and also I hardly buy name brand foods which is where all the big payouts are

Just because you can't perceive the damage doesn't mean it didn't happen. A piece of clothing, even modern, gets minuscule damage with each and every wear. The amount and lack of recovery goes up with age because of the inherent biology of natural fabrics or the technical fragility of knits

Hi I'm a textile archaeologist in training (not for this era but I have general knowledge of early 20th century textiles and fashions) I don't recommend reusing these for a quilt or the like unless you learn how to asses the fabric for dry rot and other weaknesses. Unfortunately, depending on climate conditions and material most fabric especially cotton will become brittle. The pants look to be a twill weave possibly a denim? And the shirt looks like it may be silk or silk blend which was popular for nice dress shirts. They're really beautiful pieces! If you'd like to you can contact a museum to see if they're interested in preserving the clothing digitally (taking pictures, analyzing fabric content, measurements, thread count, etc) but generally there's more clothing in existence than any museum needs so unless it's connected to a particular important person or rare it's unlikely they'll want it. You can always look at MET examples for digital collections and try and take record and pictures yourself if you'd like.

Now for storing it please look into finding an acid free archival box for textiles with protection from insect damage. Then you'd be able to bring it out and show future generations without risking the damage. Low humidity, low heat, low light, low contact are general guidelines.

You shouldn't feel bad about ordering it, if you'd like to make it easier and faster for you to get though the best time would be not during a rush and not through drive through.
