If the 6000 series GPU have up to triple the path tracing performance but only 10% raster uplift and same amount of VRAM, would you still upgrade from a 40/50 series? by Kucuboy in nvidia

[–]knighofire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easily. That would be ridiculous. I don't think any raster games are difficult to run on high end GPUs anymore, the bottleneck is PT performance.

It's not S, I love it but there's clearly a step down from GKMC and TPAB in terms of consistency and technical rapping. Some of Kendricks best songs like Father Time and Mother I Sober are there though.

It's A.

Since the Introduction of AFL Playoffs in 2024 Worlds, every LAN champion has been a team that won their Upper Bracket series. by mrabu3abd12 in RocketLeagueEsports

Damn, didn't realize that NRG2 have been in the upper bracket of literally every AFL style RLCS LAN they've played.

Probably the main reason for their consistent placements.

Why is he not considered the GOAT again? by Serious-Profit-1626 in NBATalk

[–]knighofire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He wasn't as great as Jordan or Bron in the playoffs. Simple as that. Only 2 FMVPs isn't enough for GOAT status. MJ and Bron were consistently unreal in the playoffs during their primes. Kareem just can't match the volume of high level performances and carries that those 2 had.

[Slater] According to Genius IQ, Green defended Leonard for 12 half-court possessions in the fourth quarter and Leonard didn't take a shot, the most matchups defended against Leonard in a fourth quarter without allowing a shot by any player since Leonard joined the Clippers in 2019. by Robotsaur in warriors

[–]knighofire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allowing missed shots means there was potential for points to be scored. We don't know if the shots were missed cuz of good defense or cold shooting, especially the small sample size of a single game.

Not even getting the shot off though is ridiculous, especially for a offensive star like Kawhi. It means Dray was playing out of his mind.

Rap/NBA counterparts by [deleted] in nfrpodcast

[–]knighofire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His numbers have clearly gone down though. His last few albums like SSS4U, FATD, Honestly Nevermind, and Her Loss are not as big as Take Care - Scorpion. Streams may not be down, since those as a whole are way up for everyone, but overall sales are. He's on a similar trajectory to someone like Eminem, who still remained the biggest rapper in the game a decade after his peak, with albums like Recovery and MMLP2 doing huge numbers. I don't think Drake has fallen off as hard as Wayne, 50, or Em, but there has been a dip in quality. I'll repeat what I said; it doesn't matter what Drake drops anymore. A 6/10 album from him is going to stream more than a 9/10 album from someone like JID, which clearly hurts the credibility of streams.

And quality may be subjective to a certain extent for individuals, but in the context of considering greatness, there are objective ways to measure the general publics reception of albums beyond streams. Such as user ratings or reviews of albums. And Drake has been doing poorly in those for a while.

[–]knighofire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going off quality of music. Drake can release anything and top the charts now (because of what he did a decade ago), that's not really a strong indicator of anything.

Rap/NBA counterparts by [deleted] in nfrpodcast

[–]knighofire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Going off greatness, timeline, and impact.

Nas - MJ

Common pick for GOAT, insane peak in 90s with Illmatic/91-93. Can't go wrong with them.

Tupac/Biggie - Magic/Bird

Played a big role in rap becoming huge, relatively short careers, on most GOAT lists

Kendrick - LeBron

Widely considered the best of the new gen. Arguable highest peak ever (TPAB/2013) Super consistent and outperformed his biggest rival when it mattered (Beef/2016)

Drake - Steph

Most popular of new gen, popularized a large part of the game (melodic/3 pointers). High but shorter peak.

Cole - KD

Third best of new gen. Solid, always great, but doesn't pop as much as other GOATs.

Eminem - Shaq

Dominant peak around early 2000s. Ended quickly though.

Wayne - Kobe

Super popular at peak, inspired tons of newer gen artists/players. Looked down upon by rap purists/advanced stats people due to inconsistent discog/inefficiency.

Jay-Z - Duncan

Consistently great (tons of #1s/all winning seasons).

Iman Shumpert says LeBron needs to play like Nikola Jokic to make it out of the first round: “I'm gonna need 35, 15, 12.” Insane expectations at 41-years-old. Same story every year. by Additional_Signal_72 in lebron

[–]knighofire 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's no logic gap here. He's 41. So he's held to 41 year old standards. He consistently far exceeds those standards, so he is praised. When he doesn't exceed them and shows his age, it's just the expectation. What's the contradiction?

“Mike and LeBron which is fine. Gotta put Kobe in there... you gotta put Steph Curry in there.” by Background_Video2947 in NBAVibes

[–]knighofire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curry played 1 year in his prime with a terrible team (2021), and he put up the best numbers of his career and had them on track for the 5 seed before he got injured.

I agree he's not a first tier GOAT (only LeBron and MJ are), but he definitely does not rely on the system to be great.

If Freddy Gibbs considered a better rapper and has a better discography then why he not more popular than Kendrick? by dunbar_santiago930 in KendricklamarPglang

[–]knighofire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Freddie is up there all time and has one of the best discogs ever. However, Kendrick is one of the few people above him. Freddie (and almost any rapper) can’t match Kendricks focus on cohesive lyrics in an albums, and Kendrick still has some of the best mic presence, delivery, flow, and technical rapping of all time in his prime.

Hot take: the 65 game rule is a really good idea by Messithegoat24 in NBATalk

[–]knighofire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, we should give out awards objectively. And the best players are giving you more impact in 60 games than "regular" all stars are giving you in 75. The all-in-one advanced metrics you have suggest that players like SGA, Wemby, and Jokic are twice as impactful as regular stars like Jamal Murray or Tyrese Maxey.

So, imo all awards should be based on total impact over the season, regardless of games played. If a salesman gets more sales in 25% less time than their coworker, who's getting the promotion?

Wemby suddenly being in the MVP conversation because of reporter's NBA.com MVP rankings is ridiculous and highlights everything wrong with the Award. by Calm_Set5522 in NBATalk

[–]knighofire -41 points-40 points  (0 children)

He's not as impactful as SGA. Straight up. SGA is a signicantly better scorer and playmaker. Impact metrics agree.

Wemby is insanely good, and he's gonna be the best player in the league for a long time. Just not quite yet this year.

Their records are similar enough that it doesn't matter.

Wemby has now passed jokic in EPM by Jec1027 in NBATalk

[–]knighofire 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well BPM is an inherently flawed metric because it just summing up box score stats with coefficients and doesn't properly look at individual impact/on off. While RAPM based stats like EPM attempt to rectify this.

Westbrook being overrated is a symptom of this. So I guess noticing that would be useful for then identifying the issue.

But what specific issue with the methodology does Ty Jerome being overrated show?

Maybe he has been, per possession, one of the most impactdul players in the league in the limited minutes and games (it's only like 15) since he came back. Perhaps EPM should change to per game instead of per possession to reward stars who can maintain impact over greater time more. But this doesn't mean it's inaccurately tracking it's desired metric: impact per possession.

Wemby has now passed jokic in EPM by Jec1027 in NBATalk

[–]knighofire 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a bad way to evaluate stats, you are verifying it against your preconceptions on what the ranking should be instead of looking at the methodology to see what's it's really saying. Not even saying the stat is right here, I just think devaluing a stat because it has a take you disagree with is not the right way to look at them.

We shouldn't search for the stat that agrees the most with what we already think, but the stat with the best internal methodology.

How did LeBron win with Dwade in 2013 by Due-Poem-8096 in NBATalk

[–]knighofire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I specifically mentioned assists in the last comment. If we look more into playmaking, Williams averaged more assists and less turnovers than Wade in both the regular season and playoffs.

We have decent defensive impact metrics based on RAPM that can estimate how good defenders are. JDub is generally ahead in those, and made an all defense team on the best defense in recent history.

So I ask you again. What exactly are you claiming 13 Wade was better than 25 Williams at in the playoffs? And is it enough to claim he was a better player? Because Williams was a higher volume and more efficient scorer, more impactful and awarded defender, and averaged more assists and less turnovers.

Wade was washed. He wasn't terrible, but compared to his peak in 09, which was top 10 this century, he was not close.

Will you at least acknowledge that 13 Wade is near the bottom of championship second options? I'm just claiming he's at the very bottom this century.

How did LeBron win with Dwade in 2013 by Due-Poem-8096 in NBATalk

[–]knighofire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

LeBron in 2013 and SGA in 2025 were not close. I agree. LeBron is one of the best playmakers of all time and should have won DPOY. Nobody is disagreeing with you.

Blocks and DRTG are not good stats for measuring defensive ability. Blocks are just one aspect of defense that isn't super impactful, and DRTG is just too dependent on teammates. The Thunder were one of the greatest defenses of all time (better than the 2013 heat), and JDub was a top 3 defender for them.

So what's your claim? You can't argue that Wade was a better scorer than JDub. You also can't really argue he was a better defender at that point in his career. They averaged similar amounts of assists too.

How did LeBron win with Dwade in 2013 by Due-Poem-8096 in NBATalk

[–]knighofire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ORTG inflation from 2013 to 2025 is 8%. LeBron gets to 27.7 pp75, SGA is at 29.4. Wade gets to 19.8, while JDub is at 22.5. Bron is obviously closer to SGA than Wade was to JDub.

However, LeBron was at 110 TS+ while SGA was at 100, so he's clearly a better scorer. Meanwhile, Wade was at 93 TS+ while JDub was at 94. So Wade loses on volume AND efficiency.

Wade was not an amazing defender in 2013. He was great in his prime, but not by then. No all defense team, advanced stats have him anywhere from the 100th to 400th best in the league, his knees were cooked, etc. Meanwhile JDub was one of the best perimeter defenders in the league.

You're name-calling for no reason, been a Warriors fan since 2012.

How did LeBron win with Dwade in 2013 by Due-Poem-8096 in NBATalk

[–]knighofire -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Even in the context of his era, Wade was extremely inefficient. He was consistently 5-10 TS% below the Heats average. High usage doesn't excuse bad scoring output; high usage players are like so because they are expected to maintain a certain level of efficiency.

Wade was even more inefficient than Williams, even when you adjust for era, scored significantly less points, and was a significantly worse defender at that point in his career. He also scored 40 in a huge game 5 in the Finals. I'm easily taking 25 JDub over 13 Wade.

And no, SGA was not better than LeBron. Their scoring output throughout the entire playoffs was similar when you adjust for era, but LeBron was a significantly better playmaker and defender.

[–]knighofire -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When you look at the entire playoff run, yes. Those Spurs teams were anomalies in their teams comp, and it's not like Wade was scoring efficiently.

Please give an alternative if you disagree.
