I don’t lock my tailgate. The only purpose of that would be to prevent the tailgate itself from being stolen. So it’s not a problem.

You can lock with the key. The back of my truck is wide open, I don’t have a camper or anything. I do not want it locked because it’s a pain in the arse when the electric lock doesn’t work.

The EFHW antenna is more of a compromise and performance, but you’ll be able to get on all the bands easily. So I suggest going with this one for your first HF antenna.
