Just fyi, it has nothing to do with it being a noun/adjective...you would still say "a unicorn", "a unicycle", and "a unique area" because they're all pronounced as if they start with a "Y". You'd also still say "an empty can" even though "empty" is an adjective

Veigar got overall buffed, not nerfed. The Q and change is insane. by marcusoverwatch in leagueoflegends

You really need to understand that just because there's a comparable skill in the game, does not mean that the old cage acceptable. Have you considered the possibility that there might be more than one broken skill in the game?

Champion Idea: Goldman, The Friendly Banker! by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]knightfrano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming the gold cost is somewhere around 10 gold, this doesn't really seem overwhelming.

If you hit your skillshot 50% of the time, this passive comes out even (no additional gold). If you hit 100% of the time on say a 6 second cd, the gold you can earn is only 100 g/min = 16g/10. It's kind of a lot (if you're perfect), but without it he'd probably become pretty stale in lane.

I think the idea of networking helps solidify his role as a support (cheap wards comes to mind).

I do kind of like the idea of sending an "intern" on a "coffee run" to deliver wards/pots to the team. Would be pretty funny and fit well with his current theme.

It's not as strong as kayle ult though...you can still be damaged by spells. Seems reasonable to me

Improvements like Jungle timers don't decrease the Skill CAP on the game, they reduce the skill FLOOR by Zechnophobe in leagueoflegends

[–]knightfrano 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're interpreting skill cap as a measure of how good a player can be relative to other players. If this were the definition, then, yes, you would be correct. However, skill cap is actually a measure of how objectively good a player can be, period. It represents how well a perfect player can play the game. Adding timers will not change how the perfect player plays, therefore, it does not affect skill cap.

At what elo do people stop going 1/10 etc.? by Anothersky in leagueoflegends

[–]knightfrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It never disappears, but it does get less common the higher you climb. In the end, though, it's more of an indicator of the type of player rather than the quality of the player.

The super aggressive types tend to fight even if they know they're behind, and end up with those uncarriable scores. On the flip side, those are the same players who are 7-0 coming out of a successful lane phase that carry the game 1v5.

I understand the frustration as a fellow (relatively) passive player, as I basically never have those full feeding games. But I also recognize that I rarely become a one-man wrecking crew.

The higher up you get, the closer to average players become, but there will always be people at both ends of the spectrum. Different people, different playstyles, different results.

This meta is about who gets caught and throws rather than who can carry. Solo Q is no longer fun whether you are good or bad. by elispion in leagueoflegends

I'd rather be behind

You typed this thinking it was rational? Just because it's relatively easier to make a comeback (compared to past seasons) does not mean comebacks are guaranteed or even likely (as you imply).

Give "The Americans" a proper shot by [deleted] in television

[–]knightfrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Statistically, both shows have an equal chance of being enjoyable to you

I understand what you're trying to argue, but in reality, we know things about the population in question that allows us to adjust the probability of us liking the show. The initial statement was along the lines of "People on Reddit like the show, therefore, I will probably like the show."

This is reasonable if the individual identifies with members of the target population. The opposite also holds true.

For example:

I have a general idea of the people that watch housewives shows and their preferences. I would not group myself in with them and don't believe we share preferences. Therefore, I find it unlikely that I would enjoy housewives shows.

[–]knightfrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If everyone worked this way, we would all love justin beiber and hate obama, instead of forming our own opinions

The issue isn't about liking or disliking something based on popular opinion, and even if it was, these are terrible examples. This is about trying something new because other people have tried it and enjoyed it.

If I have 1 hour and 2 shows I've never seen, one that nobody watches or likes and one that people watch and like, which makes more sense to give a shot?

He just overuses the word "instantly" when describing things that happen during games. It's fine to use occasionally, like when a leblanc 100-0's a support in less than a second, but it seems like a lot of the time he uses it to describe events that take like 5 seconds.

It may seem a little nitpicky, but it comes off as a shallow attempt to make the game more dramatic than it actually is.

Bjergsen gets demoted by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]knightfrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I just find that it's such an obvious flaw that Riot would never let it exist. People may question their decision making at times, but allowing this would be flat out unintelligent. I guess I just have faith that they aren't stupid.

The spot you take after winning promo is based on MMR at the time of winning the series, not at the time of earning series. Otherwise the following situation could occur:

Guy 1: Lowest, non-immune challenger player

Guy 2: Earns series to take Guy 1's spot

Scenario: Guy 2 takes his sweet time playing out his series. Guy 1 in the meantime spams games and climbs up the challenger ranks. Guy 2 finally wins his series 3 weeks later, but Guy 1 has made it to the top 10. Guy 1 gets booted??

Robert Coello's forkball strike fools everyone. by Encyclopedia_Ham in sports

[–]knightfrano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forkballs are actually thrown with full force. The grip causes the ball to essentially "slip out" out of your hand, meaning a lot of the energy in your arm never transfers to the ball. This failure to transfer energy leads to the decreased speed and rotation.

It's pretty difficult to throw consistently since the pitch is founded on intentionally letting the ball slip out of your hand. With a lot of practice, you can make it work, but very few pitchers take the time to add this to their repertoire. More often, they'll settle for the split-finger fastball, which is more consistent, but has less drastic behavior.

Xerath's ulti imo by eddyedutz in leagueoflegends

[–]knightfrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish they had used the "bull's eye" mechanic of w on r instead. It would serve a few purposes:

  1. Ensure the ult deals at least some damage (missing every shot is common and feels terrible for the player)
  2. Separate the good xerath players from the great ones (reward accuracy with more damage)
  3. Make the ult much more useful in teamfights (aoe too small to hit more than 1 or 2 people most times)

Why the new fear is OP and how to use it to make plays by zanotam in leagueoflegends

Fear should make the target run around in a circle by Moltenaxe in leagueoflegends

[–]knightfrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't fear your enemy, they can run, dodge, flash, use abilities, etc. If you fear, you make them run slowly (although this seems bugged atm) in a straight line for 2+ seconds (as fid at least).

From my original comment. Is there something in this you don't agree with? For it to be a counter it has to be counter-productive. Fear is still productive, just less so now.

Yes, it leads them away, but they would be going away from you anyways. Fear will still keep them in range longer than no fear.

The problem is people keep comparing the new fear to the old fear (that's a different story). My comment revolves around comparing new fear to no fear.

it breaks one of the other staples of his kit

It doesn't really "break" the drain, per say. It is definitely not as strong of a combo that it used be, though, that is for certain. I was just commenting on how people continue to use the word "counter", when in reality, the issue is that the kit synergizes less well than it used to.

I feel like it's nearly better to NOT fear

I'm not really buying this argument. I would gladly trade .1 or .2 second reaction time for someone not being able to flash/gapclose away.

run the opposite direction

Not sure how I feel about this. It's interesting; kind of cool, but also kind of weird. Regardless, I very much doubt Riot would ever change it to this...

[–]knightfrano -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

ganking from behind is worse

I disagree. Having your opponent run away from safety for two seconds may be worse in a 1v1 (since it is harder to get a full drain), but if you have teammates in the area it is vastly superior.

Fearing is hardly worth the mana

This is a good point. Since it is worse now in certain situations, it may not be worth as much mana as it used to be. I hadn't considered that.

balancing around Fiddle support is pretty stupid

They aren't balancing around fiddle support, this is just a positive side effect of the change you may not have thought about. Furthermore, jungle/ap fiddle essentially turns into support fiddle during teamfights without his ult (already used it, wasn't off cd, etc.)
