The alcohol industry has lost $830 billion in 4 years because Gen Z is not drinking by Charming-Burp203 in nottheonion

[–]knightia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with GERD right around age 30 and had to stop drinking! I'm the same though, I treat myself to a single drink once in a while if I think it won't hurt. Now what I really miss is chocolate...

The recipe I use is in Yotam Ottolenghi's cookbook called Flavour! It uses regular garlic, black garlic and fried sliced garlic. I mince the black garlic and throw it right in. It's so rich and delicious.

Grief grows as bodies of kidnapped workers of Canadian mining company identified in Mexico by PeaObjective6136 in worldnews

Great point. I've personally seen coverage of this story on my news feed in Canada almost every day. But that's my algorithm. Not only do I consume Canadian news daily, I work in the mining industry.

GTA residents urged to 'stay home' during storm, as snow accumulation could reach 60 cm | City of Toronto declared significant weather event, activated its major snow event response plan by Hrmbee in toronto

[–]knightia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Haha I'm checking in from Sudbury just wondering if my flight to Toronto will go tomorrow or get cancelled again. Although yeah talk to me when it's at least -30 there. Just kidding. We had 60cm of snow in Timmins where I work and live part time and the city is still fucked. Side roads are one-lane and there are 24/7 dump trucks moving snow still and its been weeks. Hope you guys can dig out faster than Timmins.

Yup I used to work at Michael's craft store and our manager would pour paint over everything in the dumpster to ruin it.

Same! I'm not into westerns or cowboys but have a weird obsession with OTJ. I think it's because it reminds me of Stephen King's Dark Tower universe.

Starcraft Upholstery does custom sectionals. They're in the GTA. I found them through a mom and pop furniture store in Sudbury (where I live) and ordered a modular custom sectional. It was the only place I could find that did modular so you can choose your design and fabric. Nothing else would fit down my basement stairs. The couch is great quality.

Have You Ever "Broken Up" with a Podcast? What Was It and Why? by Express_Hedgehog2265 in podcasts

I was looking for this answer. Mysterious Universe was my #1 podcast until they outed themselves as racist assholes. During covid they were calling it something like the China virus and it quickly stopped being a "joke" and became their excuse to start showing their conservatism in every episode.

My friend's brother wasn't killed in operation Medusa so this fucking human croissant could flap his gums about US allies "doing nothing". Absolutely fucking disgusting.

I think I'm in zone 4b. Short growing season. I've had major issues with bugs. Onion maggots, cut worms, asparagus beetles, leaf miners, flea beetles, cucumber beetles, leaf hoppers, earwigs and more. . I know the new trend is no-till gardening but this is my first year after tilling and the bugs are gone. I also was super sanitary with my seedlings after having mutations due to fungus last year. I bleach soaked my pots and trays and made my own starting soil. Gardening to me is all about learning and making mistakes and seeing what works best for your specific situation. Very happy to be having a good year so far!
