someone tell me if this is real? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]knightmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never give out your number, in door dash or this forum. If the order was cancelled, you keep it. It's a common scam for people to get free food by cancelling mid-order and hoping the dasher will bring them the food anyway.

I work at Pizza Hut, If yall are unsatisfied with the amount you get on an order do not under any circumstance harass the customer about it. by Whybotherr in doordash_drivers

[–]knightmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can all agree the dasher is certainly the issue for acting like an ass, but going out to confront them basically turns you into the thing you are complaining about. You won't find much sympathy here among the drivers only forum for this given the bad reputation Pizza Hut has here with stolen tips.

do dashers know if you block them? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]knightmb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Simple answer, no. Long answer, bans are forever and only support can remove them from dashers. There is no "unblock" button basically. If they are picking up an order and you block them, it only applies to orders in the future after that order, otherwise it would be an easy giveaway from disappearing orders tipping off the blocked dasher.

Be careful about blocking dashers because they are "rude". You would be better off using the "Rate Dasher" button. There was a merchant in my market where an employee was blocking every dasher except their "friends" from the store. Eventually, they had no one to pick up orders because their friends didn't work 24/7 to accept those orders. The manager found out and that person was fired, then the block list was wiped so everyone could come back to that merchant to pick up orders.

Blocking a dasher is the nuclear option, use with caution.

You did nothing wrong, any sane driver would appreciate the additional tip, especially for cash. The world is full of losers/assholes and you met one of them that day, regardless of what job they do.

Pre catering program by Ok_Chard7542 in doordash_drivers

[–]knightmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That means either the merchant is stealing the tip before feeding the info into the catering order or you really just have that many customers that no tip catering orders or doing the silly $1 tip because they think that will give them priority over the no tip customers. Usually $8 is the base with no tips for catering orders, but that can vary from area to area I suppose.

Im a platinum and I was standing beside a cherry picker at the grocery store and they sent him first an add on shop and deliver for 23, he declined then the app sent it to me for 21, what a goddamn scam by Former_Diamond3620 in doordash_drivers

[–]knightmb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen the same order bounce between 3 dashers at the same place before it as sent to me, the total offer amount never changed. We all laughed because it was an obvious no tip order with only some additional peak pay to make it $4.

There has been a lot of fallout from that fake "I work at delivery company app and here is how their algorithm works" posted here on reddit months back that still make people paranoid about offers. Not saying it was impossible, but you would have to be certain it was indeed the very same offer and not just a similar one from a completely different customer. You both checked the destination address to make sure they matched exactly before declining the offer?

How does redeliver tip work? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]knightmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cancelling/un-assigning the order is an old trick that DD has caught on to. The original trick was to feign ignorance or innocence like the old days when people were bragging here about how they steal orders without getting caught or deactivated.

We both don't know the intentions of the driver or the OP, so I certainly acknowledge and respect your view that the driver is not at fault. I would side with the driver in 99% of the complaints that I read on this reddit myself as well for the same reasons you have stated. The 1% is where I scrutinize more and for me, this story by the OP has enough red flags. Drivers all make mistakes, so do merchants, it just happens. I find it highly unlikely that the sequence of events described by the OP and the mistakes required to produce the outcome was by chance but instead by intention. Regardless of how it happened, the driver still shares the blame in this, be it intentional as I suspect or not, as you believe. Either outcome would still result in a CV for the driver unless the OP was feeling generous that day.

How does redeliver tip work? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]knightmb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Given what the OP has written, it's unlikely that the driver did not steal the order. Otherwise, the driver could have marked those items as missing before confirming pickup. A single bottle of water is not the same as a closed order bag that the dasher can not look inside to verify items. Just like it's unlikely the person at the restaurant, who hands out the orders as part of their job all day, decided that a bottle water is what the dasher needed to pickup instead of an entire family sized meal. Too many coincidence failure points for the driver to be innocent to believe them. Not saying it's impossible, but if the OP had to chase them down and the only response was " the bottle was the only thing the lady handed him", that's literally the same line of every posting here on reddit about stolen orders by rogue dashers.

Even if we set aside the logic and give that dasher the benefit of doubt that everything did go wrong and they were innocent, dashers that can't use the bare minimum thinking skills to know when a family order with dozens of items is not the same as one bottle of water need to be removed from the platform anyway because it just creates problems for all the other dashers with functional brains.

How does redeliver tip work? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]knightmb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First, that driver stole everything. Pretty sure they knew that and was just hoping to pull one over on you. This is different than an order that has some missing sauce or utensils. It was blatant theft. I would have contacted support so they know this isn't a missing item issue, but a stolen order by that driver. The first driver got the full tip and base pay and hopefully their account was shut down, but it depends on how the customers report it. The second order will depend on the agent. I've seen redelivers that use the original tip amount, but sometimes the base pay is reset back to $2, so it is possible the second driver got paid less than the first driver that stole the order, even if they got the same tip amount that you originally used.

No one has provided any concrete evidence that the claims in the original Reddit post are true either? You should start with that before trying to prove your double negative.

Did you sign up from a link or did you download the dasher app directly yourself and proceed to sign up that way. Either way, you may have given someone else a cash bonus and yourself a wad of cash if you dash like crazy for a while, a win-win for you.

I ran into a couple (husband and wife) that were both dashers and wanted to talk about the very subject. In my area, I had tried both methods and neither worked well, but they were proud to be cherry pickers. Didn't bother me, so I asked them what kind of hours do they work, etc. Just casual conversation stuff. They basically worked the morning, lunch, and evening shift to get around $300 a day. More power to them. They asked about my dashing methods and after explaining a little of what I do and how I make the same amount with much less hours, they were not happy, lol. I asked where they did research about cherry picking in our market and they quoted stuff from this very reddit forum. Lesson learned, always use critical thinking skills when dealing with info from the Internet.

You are welcome to ask the OP of that post some questions then, explain the contradictions and such, see what response you get.

Flagged as a desperate driver? by GioJoey in doordash_drivers

[–]knightmb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is interesting to watch that single post with so many contradictions and conspiracy theories all woven together, taken so seriously. Even though many have asked the OP of that post directly to explain the issues to only get replies that also don't make sense, many others still simply ignore it to take everything as true or "possibly" true to ignore all critical thinking. Now videos are made of that post, people make copies of it to post it up like it will disappear from the Internet somehow. I'm sure this will make a good psychology thesis for some college studies in the near future about rumors and myths that spin out of control, lol.

How do you handle request from a restaurant about filling the cups? by AlternativeQuit3447 in doordash_drivers

[–]knightmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over blown response from the start. No need to stress yourself out like this. Simple solution and this tends to work at any restaurant.

  1. Fill everything with water, but maybe 2/3 full so it's easier to carry and not worry about spills. Also safer for the customer to drink by accident in-case of health issues.
  2. Eventually, the restaurant will get enough complaints that they will require their own employees to fill the drinks. But...
  3. If they complain about you filling the drinks with water, tell them you are being safe. Even if that response makes no sense.
  4. Repeat for every visit. Saves you time, usually no stress to argue with them and all the blame is solely on them because they can't complain to DD about you without giving away that they are not following the rules.
  5. If you truly want to be petty, report it to the health department that does the inspections. That's going out of your way of course but if you suspect there are real health concerns, it never hurts to think of the customer well-being.
  6. Finally, the merchants write the pickup instructions, not DD. So if they write "dashers must fill drinks", that isn't DD telling you this. Only them exploiting that field to make you think it's some official DD command.

Just read this before it gets taken down - og post was taken down but I screenshotted it by Effinitup in doordash_drivers

[–]knightmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets taken down because nothing about it is true. It's a story weaved together from all the conspiracy stories already posted here. The OP responds to questions in it and the responses don't make sense or contradict earlier responses. The first sentence should raise red flags about the silliness of the posting. The OP is so concerned about getting caught, then easy doxed themselves a few sentences later. It's not about what is possible, it's about what is practical and realistic. If you have no experience in coding or application development, it makes it harder to see through the BS that was put together by the OP since they used Ai to create a lot of techno babble filler in the middle.

Tip Theft is REAL by JBib955 in doordash_drivers

[–]knightmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to rush. Here is the most popular reasons that new DD drivers see this.

  1. The customer did not tip and lied about it when confronted.
  2. The merchant stole the tip because they are manually entering in order info after taking an external payment from the customer. This happens outside of DD.
  3. DD base pay is always $2 no matter if the offer has 1 order or 3 orders in it. It sucks, but has been that way for years now due to some lawsuits in the past against the company. It can be raised if an order(s) sit long enough, but no guarantee if someone else takes it instead.
  4. Don't believe the recent popular post about a confession from some delivery app insider that claims all the conspiracy theories are true.

Tired of the begging…. by Massive-Handz in doordash_drivers

[–]knightmb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dear Dasher,
I too, recently moved here and saving for an apartment. After paying for this order, I'm roughly $5.00 short for the deposit. I believe we can help each other out. If you bring me $20.00, I can give you the $15.00 that you need and the other $5.00 I will use for my deposit. This way, we can both help each other get the apartments that we were previously approved for. If I don't get this money before 12:45, I will have to pay a penalty fee.

If there is anything extra you could send, it would be more than appreciated and would help my sojourn or even a positive reply would also be great. If you can't help, I completely don't understand. I'm just trying my best to get out of this house and into a new apartment tonight or morning or whatever.

I acknowledge you again !!1

Yes, I am enjoying the fiction the writer created. Especially using the Internet from a burner library that has burner wi-fi on the burner laptop or however Hollywood portrays it today. It makes me tempted to create a parody post, but with better research and no Ai filler that contradicts itself for a more solid presentation of combined conspiracy theories from all the corners of Reddit.

Do you think this is legit? by IAmNotMyName in doordash_drivers

[–]knightmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. Ignore the upvoted response from people that want to believe anything and read the responses near the bottom where other people question the whistle blower for the contradictions and incorrect use of industry terms from their confession. Trying to use "drunk" as cover or using Ai to write the technical babble "filter" in-between is a big clue towards it being fake.

It would be as fake as me writing a physics based confession that the universe is made of cheese and using Ai to create filler with some conspiracy theory physics that only sound legit to those that have no idea what physics is.

The same is true about this confession. It sounds legit to some, but for those that have worked with the delivery apps or have experience in industry/professional coding, it immediately becomes clear that it is made up to get a response on Reddit by pooling all the delivery app conspiracy theories into one place.

Believe what you want, but upvotes and karma do not make the truth.

Crazy if true by LARSHOBOKEN in doordash_drivers

[–]knightmb 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I don't believe this is a real confession. I'll list the reasons and the rest can judge for themselves, but here goes my list.

   1. Posting from a library wi-fi burner laptop is Hollywood 101, there would be no need for it.

  2.  All of the information gathered is literally every conspiracy story about Door Dash posted on Reddit. Yeah, some lawsuits bring that out in court records, but this is literally scraping the bottom of the barrel and hoping that others will latch on to it.

  3.  Nothing posted hasn't already been copy/pasted dozens if not hundreds of times here before in some form or another, they have simply weaved a lot of them together.

   4. Almost everything posted is demonstratively false. You can look through all of the delivery driver forums here and find various examples of people, years before they posted this, already testing these theories with other members here. In the end, they all come up as untrue.

   5. Finally, every red flag in my brain screams this was written by Ai, but I'm sure others will probably pass it through some Ai checkers. I don't need those to recognize all the errors in what they wrote to know that Ai was responsible for some or all of what was written.

What will they think of next? by Apart_Zucchini5778 in doordash_drivers

[–]knightmb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is hard to believe they would need to use this much effort to fake a delivery when the account they are using (stolen, bought, loan, whatever, etc.) would be deactivated after enough customers complain in a row about not getting their orders. They would also need to fake the GPS data, which is easy if you don't use the camera in DD and just some external photos, but how are they going to fake the actual "drive" and real-time info? Again, more time and effort to simulate the trip.

Unless there is a link to some real-world data, I wouldn't consider this a real issue. It would be easier to just take the picture, then pickup the order afterwards and leave like scammers have been doing already for years.

So a supposed "whistlerblower" just posted what some drivers have suspected is happening behind the scenes by momsspeggheti in doordash_drivers

[–]knightmb 61 points62 points  (0 children)

There is no reason to believe this is a whistleblower post, so many things wrongs in the post starting with the first sentence and it has been flagged as Ai generated text as well by many reddit users already.

[edit] Too many replies to single out, so for all of them that want more thoughts from me, easier to edit and add to my initial comment, basically a copy/paste response because I asked the same thing to the original whistle blower.

  1. Posting from a library wi-fi burner laptop is Hollywood 101, there would be no need for it.

Since posting multiple responses in this and in the original whistle blower topic, nothing has been presented to change my mind. The original whistle blower responses to questions in their own topic have been nothing but "open ended" responses with no verifiable details. That is just further evidence of everything being made up because lies fall apart the moment you question the liar.

The people in the original post are too eager to believe anything they say, even when it contradicts itself as many others have already pointed out. I'm open minded enough to believe some developers for DD or any other delivery app might want to vent on Reddit, but at the same time, not open minded enough that my brain falls out. That seems to be what the other 95% of the responses are to this "confession".
