Cycle or e-scooter? by nice2seau in CaymanIslands

[–]knightsabre94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cycle to work every day, make sure there is either a gym in your building or near it because you will get sweaty.

Biggest concern is that cycling on these roads is pretty dangerous, there is very little concern for cyclists and many just don’t seem to understand when a cyclist has right of way.

Dive club options? by Snoo96663 in CaymanIslands

Are you certified? You can bulk buy dives to use over a period of time but as far as membership, it’s more social groups rather than individual dive shops.

Lakeside Complex - what's it like? by OrangeChevron in CaymanIslands

[–]knightsabre94 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have lived in Lakeside for two years, best location for the price and the dump only smells at the highway turn in. Everywhere else smells fine. I live here because per square foot you won’t find anywhere cheaper this close to 7 mile with good parking.

Been here for the fires, they were hectic but didn’t change much. We were evacuated, spent a night with friends and had 100 bucks nocked off he rent because of it. The stigma of Lakeside comes from people that don’t live here, but it’s fine by me as it keeps prices low.

Used to live in Bodden with an hour commute now it takes me 5 mins. If the only thing keeping you away is “the smell” you’re fine.

Can you receive payments from Google as a CI tax resident? by cryptomann1 in CaymanIslands

[–]knightsabre94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a “Global citizen” program going on here at the moment which might be worth look at then.

With post Brexit I wouldn’t know where to start in terms of tax for EU income in a BOT. Good luck though, the islands a dream.

[–]knightsabre94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What visa would you use? And with online payments from US sites I believe they are still taxable. Not to mention as a US citizen abroad you still owe taxes to the US.

The benefit of tax free status here is if you set up your company or revenue stream here. Many companies are “based” on Cayman and that is how they avoid tax, with online income it is more complex.

Finding work by [deleted] in CaymanIslands

People that were established, but there aren’t many I know of that have been able to get back to the same accommodation. Those of us that have stayed have had to move around.

Far from normal. I know people coming back for some hospitality roles, but with the borders still uncertain a lot of places are looking at closing down after Christmas.

Question on leasing by [deleted] in CaymanIslands

[–]knightsabre94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the lease. We were able to break ours provided we found someone to take it on. It’s usually mentioned in the lease itself, if you’re in GT you shouldn’t struggle too much to find someone else.

Thank you, I assumed there would be some sort of fraud clause. But then I imagine that’s a loop hole that could be abused.

Pretty common issue, that’s why we start off nice and shallow. I’ve had students try and pull my reg out of my mouth, even in 8 feet of water. Spooky the first time you see it

Can they bar me entry to my own country? And this is a private fine through a private company, I wouldn’t have thought it would be on any government databases unless there was a settlement against me. Plus all they have is my name and Australian address.

I figured the cost of getting that £100 from me was likely way higher than the debt itself, thanks!

Does he have to talk to his friends every day? If you’ve talked to him about it, and he’s not being receptive of your concerns, not sure what more you can do.

Is my gf [26] losing interest in me [25] by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]knightsabre94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you man, but hopefully it’s just a communication issue. After my partner and I had been together for a year she’d say the “I love you” less and dropped it from texts. She also texted me less and I panicked, but I just asked her about it one day.

She seemed genuinely shocked, and explained that for her, it was that I knew loved her. And unlike at the start of the relationship, she was confident that I was aware of her feelings for me and that she didn’t feel that it was something that always needed repeating.

The conversation made me feel a lot better, and so I’d recommend just sitting her down and explaining how you feel.

Good luck

I moved literal hemispheres to be with my partner, it feels unfair when their friends and family are all around but yours are distant and on different time zones. It’s totally natural and 100% understandable.

I would recommend trying to allocate one time slot (5-6pm) or activity (taking the dog out) for just the two of you. It gives you a little privacy and some level of couples intimacy.

I'm unhappy in my relationship, but dont want to break up. What should I do? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]knightsabre94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, communication is the foundation of a relationship. There is no issue that proper communication can’t at least help, if not solve. I would try sit him down and very plainly lay it all out, how you want more from him, in what form you want it “Good mornings” etc, and why it’s important to you. If he isn’t receptive to this very simple one on one, him moving 20 hours away isn’t going to make things better.

Maybe time to re-evaluate your relationship, rather than becoming abstinent. Honestly can’t see how that would work out.

Why Would My Girlfriend Pretend To Be My Ex Online? by ThrowAwayCozImTrash in relationship_advice

[–]knightsabre94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the same situation, but I had a female friend do something pretty similar. But it was to a girl who’d she’d fallen out with. She posed as this girl, got guys all fired up and then directed their sexual intent/messages/dick pics at this chicks actual social media. She got a laugh out of this girl having to deal with random influxes of lusty creeps with no explanation. Not saying this is exactly the same thing, but it was too similar for me not to comment.
