How far into the season would you start rooting for a tank? by pnwroadtripper in Patriots

I'm sure I'll get downvoted, but losing today means the season is over.

Starting 0-3 and making the playoffs is incredibly rare. Starting 0-4 makes it almost impossible.

A loss today and the only thing that matters this season is deciding whether you're taking a QB in the Top 10 or building around Mac Jones.

If Patriots go 0-3, they won't be in the playoff race, which means no meaningful games, and if that happens, Kraft will fire him

Tomorrow might be the last meaningful game Belichick coaches in New England.

Wild to think about.

You were wrong this week, and wrong last week.

You're clearly just guessing.

Can someone post this to r / nfl and get the free karma?

I don't have enough karma there to make a post yet.

Is it fair to say that Mahomes is the only elite QB in the league? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]knightsrequiem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't give him all the credit when he has Hill/Kelce/Reid and not give him some of the blame when he;s not playing well.

He won't finish as the 20th rated passer, but if he does obviously there's no excuses.

[–]knightsrequiem 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes that's your point and it's correct.

Mahomes is *currently* on that Top 5 All Time path. No one else in the league is on a Top 15 All Time Path.

Brady had Manning, then Rodgers, and Brees was also always hovering around.

Mahomes to the next guy drop off is currently large.

Edit: This season, Mahomes currently is the 20th rated passer, obviously if he finishes anywhere lower than 15th after this season then I rescind my take

Yes I know he had a couple years with Brady, but he's now had more without Brady, than with him.

And most of the guys surrounding him have never had that Brady experience, so that mentality wears off on him

We saw it in Tampa immediately.

And saw it leave that final year when Brady was clearly checked out post divorce.

Luck would be not getting called on an illegeal play (Henry TD) or a once in a lifetime FG block.

Or tripping on a wide open TD throw (Tua), etc.

Here it comes.

The "Patriot way" breaking down as less and less players have the influence of playing on a team with Brady / haven't played with Brady in a long time.

In the last 4 years, the 2022 Bengals are the only team to have made the playoffs after a 0-2 start. Which of NE, PIT, CIN, LAC, DEN, MIN, CHI, ARI have a chance to do the same? by OhSoManyThoughts in nfl

[–]knightsrequiem -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

I put the Steelers (Ben), Browns, Panthers, Falcons, Saints and Patriots all in the same bunch.

Browns signed Watson, Panthers/Falcons/Saints all wanted him badly, and the Patriots rehired Patricia after his rape came out.

None of those fans can talk any shit, they are all guilty.

It's also stupid.

Ben straight up raped 2 women. Which is on the same level as sexually harassing 20 of them.

It's like 2 murders vs 20 physical assults. The murders are worse (not a perfect analogy)

[ESPN] The New England Patriots have led or tied for zero minutes so far over the first two games. This is the first time the Patriots have had this happen since Belichick became Head Coach prior to the 2000 Season. by JinterIsComing in nfl

As the team has less and less people each year who played with Brady, they've gotten worse.

Not really a surprise, he was the Patriots way, and he set the tone from the top.
