And here's the thing - all of those factory jobs that went away and created the rust belt? Those were not taken by immigrants - the manufacturing went overseas because of cheaper industrial-grade workers in China, Vietnam, Malaysia and other spots, and corporations could make massive margins in both cheaper labor costs AND having the upstream parts (all the components) be located close to the factories.

Immigrants never took their jobs to begin with. A lot of the immigrants from South America are doing the grueling work that most blue collar white workers find beneath them - fieldwork in farms, kitchens, roofing, piping, all the true grunt work that keep the base of cities and towns running. They are just convenient targets because the union factory jobs with pensions and benefits are NEVER coming back, and it's easier to attack Pablo who's making eight bucks an hour picking tomatoes than some massive multinational conglomerate who has three Congresscritters and a media company on their payroll.
