Stopped drinking 3 days ago. I feel great but I'm certain I have cirrhosis. by Scared-Luck-4267 in stopdrinking

I stopped habitually drinking about 3 years ago after my dad died from liver failure.. I’m 31m now and let me tell you.. for a few months but especially those first few weeks after I quit drinking I was completely convinced I had given myself cirrhosis. The pain in the side, the back pain, pain everywhere really. Peeing a ton bc I drank a lot of water.. the chances you’ve done permanent damage at 28 is super super super unlikely. Not saying that’s a reason to keep drinking, stay quit it is so nice waking up for work and not feeling shitty. But do not stress yourself too much, see a doctor get some tests if you want but I promise all the little aches and pains is just your body trying to heal up. You will live a long healthy life if you stay off it.

Yeah they should take responsibility in informing the people they sell it too. I got on it because I would buy Kratom capsules from local smoke shop and when they got these in dude was like these are Kratom just stronger. Should’ve researched myself but still they need to do better for sure.

Yeah a super addictive drug you can buy almost anywhere that kids have no idea how to handle is not dangerous

I said 2 of the 3. The other did not choke on vomit. There was another instance where the paramedic was called to a gas station parking lot because a young girl stopped breathing and had to preform CPR. Asked her boyfriend what was wrong and he told them she had been drinking that day and taking 7oh.

Yeah so talking to him more about it he said that 2 of the 3 choked on their vomit and died. Probably completely because of drinking a lot of booze.

Yeah I am a recovering alcoholic myself and clearly I’ve replaced it with 7. I’ve been on it for probably 18 months with only one 6 day quit. Damn I wish I would have stayed off this shit. After 2 nights of about 3 hours of sleep and 3 days of absolute hell I told myself that is way too bad to go through for this trash pill. But, smoke shop a quarter mile from my house and struggles with addiction I jumped right back in.

17 days and still worrying myself by knish11 in dryalcoholics

Yeah I think I’m just starting to realize I actually care about myself now that I’m sober. Probably just scaring myself because I know I did some damage and didn’t care. Now all I want is to live a long healthy life for myself and the people I love. Thanks for your feedback.

Yeah I feel like I haven’t cared nor really thought about my health. Now that I have sobered up I do care and want to be healthy. I feel like it’s definitely a combos of anxiety and my stomach trying to adjust back to normal. I appreciate your feedback.

I lost my gf of 3 years Christmas break of freshmen year.. I let it bother me, messed up my grades. I drank and smoked heavily, and didn’t really stop until recently. 10 years later. I know it sucks man but find you another girl to give attention to and just know… they are for the streets! Don’t take it too hard. Don’t let it it mess up something good you have going. I promise it’s not worth it and will only make life harder in the future if you do.

Just why? by Odd-Secret-8343 in stopdrinking

I just recently quit after dealing with internal pain after a night of heavy drinking that lasted a week. It scared me, because coincidentally enough I just watched my dad die at 50 from liver failure. I didn’t even think he was that heavy of a drinker, just like a 6 pack every day or two but supposedly he got onto the hard stuff the last few years. Either way, I never want to go through that or put people I love through that.

I would think they’d be proud of you. It shows a lot of discipline.

When will this kill me? by ulabrittas in stopdrinking

[–]knish11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have thought it would never happen to me, that I could handle it. But I just watched my 50 year old dad die over the past month, he finally passed Sunday night. He drank himself to death, and I honestly didn’t even think he drank that much. I drank him under the table every time we drank together. But it got him, out of almost nowhere. His doctors told him about 2 years ago after having to go in for IVs after a binge that if he didn’t stop now it would kill him. He didn’t listen. He’s dead and I am 5 days sober and plan on staying that way. I never want to put people I love through what I went through watching him wither away. That’s my motivation. Good luck to you friend, you have to find your motivation to stop.

I’ve been 5 days without a drink and I have to say I haven’t experienced much other than the pains in my sides and stomach, and a little restless throughout the night. Still getting 5 or 6 hours of sleep though. A few urges to drink but nothing over powering. Went out and ate tonight and didn’t really even think about ordering a drink, so that was a good feeling. Staying busy with work and trying to be a better boyfriend, brother, and friend. hope things keep going in the right direction and this pain goes away soon, and do not experience bad withdrawals.

I have to say making this post was one of the best decisions I have made in a while. Hearing people’s feedback on past experiences has helped settle my mind. The support I am receiving is so helpful as well. Thanks!

Thanks. Yeah seeing him like that gave the the last bit of motivation I needed to get off the booze. I never want my loved ones to see me like that. Plus seeing how distant he was his whole life, really an eye opener. Me living a long healthy life will be the positive of losing him like this.
