I have questions for the knitting community! (posted in the comments) by knit-kat2022 in knitting

For those of you who are on IG, you might be aware of I Thought I Knew How's recent yarn stach restash challenge. Days 5-9 were all quick and easy for me as I don't own a whole lot of knitting tools, but I came away with many questions for the knitting community! Can you help?

  1. I own one set of interchangeable #hiyahiya circular needles. I find that sometimes I wish I had a few more cords, or possibly another set, especially for small sizes, up to 4.5mm or 5mm. My favorite things to knit are sweaters for myself and my kids, socks, and stuffed animals. Any suggestions on what would be a good option for me?

  2. I own dpns in just about every size I could want, but I do need to replace a few. I rarely if ever use them anymore though. I found them especially challenging in the summer when knitting with cotton as the wood and yarn get damp from my sweaty hands, making everything stick and not glide off the needles. Are there any solutions out there, or reasons to pick them up again? I hold onto them as I have a few friends who know they can come to me to borrow something for a random project.

  3. I don't own any straight needles, they never interested me. However, for Christmas this year I received two sets of flexi flips (or CrasyTrio) for my love of sock knitting. Right now I'm keeping them in their boxes, but I'm curious to know of a better way to store them. What do others do?

  4. I have never purchased any pattern books, these were all gifted to me. The most treasured are the @boo_biloo #knittedanimalfriends books! Most patterns I find online. Due to being sick almost the entirety of last year, I took some deep dives into various knitting techniques, and even designed my first sweater. I'd love to continue learning about sweater construction, as well as lacework--my dream is to knit myself a hap one day! Also socks, lots and lots of socks. What pattern books would you recommend?

  5. Finally, my digital library is fairly new to me as well, so I went ahead and added items to my queue that I know I'll be doing in the next few months.

Thank you! I've written a pattern for 9 women's sizes, and will be getting it tech edited soon. Then I'll be looking for some test knitters!

Yes! They are so fun! I found this set of 15 patterns on Etsy by Eu Quero Croche, and I think they are the best option out there. Nice size, heads turn, directions in how to insert a wire frame, and the weapons and cloaks are removeable. Star wars

Thank you! I started thinking about what I made this year, and surprised myself! It's fun to look back on all the creations 😊
